Sinny

As was previously suggested.. Off topic and hopefully mood lightening  ;D

Where did your screen name arise? What does your avatar say about you?

Sinny: a nick name I gained several years ago. Teenagers, normal names are so useless ::)

Now it's like my outward front - very few people enage with Sinead.

Nikola Tesla, simple and striking art, representing his bright and sharp intelligence..

And yours?
"The very word "secrecy" is repugnant in a free and open society"- JFK

ArMaP

My screen name and avatar show how little imagination I have. :)

"Ar" are the first two letters of my first name, "Ma" are the first two letters of my second name and "P" is the first letter of my last name.

My avatar is as close as I could get of a digital version of myself, although I'm not as cute. ;D

Amaterasu

Amaterasu = Shinto Goddess of the Sun - 9 letters...  Shinto is one of a very few religious groups that saw the sun as female, the moon as male.  ("Solar..."  Heh.  She's a solar deity, though I pronounce it so-LAHR.)

The eye indicates one Consciousness in a field of Consciousness (as the bottom of My avatar shows).  The ae is for Amyellen.  The pegasus...  Well, that should be obvious.  [grin]  I created My avatar Myself.

"If You want peace, take the profit out of war."

undo11

undo is short for undomiel, the last name of arwen from lord of the rings.  the 11 is to differentiate it from undo, which was my screen name at ats.   my avatar is me before chemotherapy.

the avatar is the otter sticking out his tongue at the world in fun

The Seeker

Mine is not so interesting; I have been a seeker of knowledge and truth about many things and engaged in sharing knowledge for many years, have been the seeker on at least 4 forums;

Green-eyed Leo at spookz made my avatar for me after she discovered that I have been a student of wiccan/ritual magick, alchemy, telepathy, and all things Spiritual since my death experience in 1980...

I am also studying the Rosea Crucis and the teachings of the Tibetan Monks...

spacemaverick

I am spacemaverick.

I really became interested in things dealing with outer space back in January 2011 when I was injured on the job.  That same job I was kind of known as a maverick even though I went by department policies and procedures I was one who would not follow other leaders blindly and had no problem challenging authority.  I was a maverick of sorts.  I kind of also identified with the character "Maverick" in Top Gun who was out of step with established norms and thinking for himself.  So when I got into forums, hence the name spacemaverick.

The avatar was really Zorgon's idea and he thought it fit me.  I went through other avatars and decided to stick with one "Z" suggested.

I have been researching various subjects for about 20 years but have been on forums for about 3.  Living moon was where I started my space research.  Sorry my explanation is boring.

I was wondering why you choose Buck Rogers... 8)

rdunk

I covered my user name earlier today on another thread, but to be a part of the continuum I will restate and add to.

rdunk = r as the first letter of my first name, and d/dunk with the first letter of my last name plus abbreviated  sound of my last name. I use this on every forum I am on, except for any that might have already had an rdunk, when I joined.

I believe the Hubble Deep Field and the Ultra Deep Field to be the most majestic pieces of photographic art in the history of the Earth. So, for my "avatar" I often use a thumb-nail screen shot of those pics to reflect my feeling and interest in deep space, and for what those photographs represent to we the people of Earth.

On the other hand, an avatar can be whatever we desire, so I am not hesitant to change mine at any time, for whatever reason. :)

I do choose to not use capitals in my user name because, that makes it more difficult for anyone to type in the user name in addressing or in reply comments.

Great idea, very fun and sparks the imagination to
read of all your screennames and avies  :)

My screenname burntheships was taken from
the story of a small band of Spanish soldiers
led by Conquistador Hernando Cortez.

They sailed and arrived in a strange country and
swiftly brought about the overthrow of a large and
powerful empire that was in power for over six centuries.

The ideal was, no turning back, no going back....
"if we are going home, we are going home in their ships".

With that, Cortez and his men burned their own ships,
and by burning their own ships, the commitment level
of the men was raised to a higher level. Then they
succeeded in conquest of the Aztecs where others
had failed. The idea here of course is to have a level of
commitment that is succeed, or die.

It is all about commitment, so there you have it.
I have your back, and we will get there!

;)

p.s.
Not to be taken literally, I dont think I would
ever burn anything let alone a ship, that is
aside from renewable energy sources...take from
it what you will.

TIL...I always thought you might be an drunk dyslexic!  lol

Mine is my dog, Cosmo the Rottweiler.  He is so amazing and a better person than most people!  lol  The little one is a friends Jack Russell and she was the first love of his life.  When I first got him she was bigger than him and I was afraid she might hurt him!  He is so smart and gentle with other animals, cats and children.  He really loves cats.  He had some kitten friends when he was little, so got used to them at a young age.

I got into alternate science theories around 1980 when I realized that what "modern science" was teaching was wrong. The world used to be flat, and space used to be an empty vacuum.  Until we accept the existence of an invisible source medium that all matter and energy spring from, we will not have gravity modification and zero point energy.

I also am quite fond of the teachings of the Vedas and Upanishads.  The Upanishads is truly a treasure that brings me great joy.

Cosmo
And you may ask yourself
Well...How did I get here?

I think "Z" figured that fit me better.  Buck Rogers liked to stir up things too.

This is a very interesting thread.  It's great to hear the reasons behind the names and avatars.  It tells a little something about the person!
