British Government Reveals Vision For The UK’s First Spaceport

Ambitious plans from the UK, Spaceport plans revealed.

The British government continued its steady path towards recovering its space ambitions by revealing visions of what would become the first spaceport on the UK mainland. As expected, the base would be targeted mainly towards the suborbital space tourism market and possibly commercial satellite launches – likely to polar orbit destinations.

The UK Government has revealed eight possible locations for Britain's first spaceport.

Six of the eight locations revealed at the Farnborough Airshow's Space Day are in Scotland.

They include Campbeltown Airport, Glasgow Prestwick Airport, RAF Kinloss, RAF Leuchars, RAF Lossiemouth and Stornoway Airport. The list also featured Llanbedr Airport in Wales and Newquay Cornwall Airport in England

That's interesting, BTS; build a spaceport and then build something to launch from it afterwards???

I do recall reading or perhaps hearing on Art Bell's coast to coast shows that someone wanted to gather up all the shuttle fuel tanks in LEO and construct a hotel/spaceport facility out of them...

seems each one still had quite a bit of O2 and hydrogen left in them...

Yes, that is interesting!

Hmmm that too is curious...might do for starters? Somehow by all
of this news I think they have got some real secret stuff going on
as space travel is concerned, just imho. I do recall a few of them
hidden in plain sight, decades ago.

Perhaps it is more of a "build it and they will come" sort of effort they have in mind?

Or a marketing ploy to be a prime hub for the burgeoning private space travel industry?
