what i just saw..

ok I don't know what is going on around here but  wow

this morning  I was in the driveway blowing pine leaves so I didn't hear it but something made me look up.. there coming over the barn and looking like it was heading for the house was a plane barely over the tree tops....the closest on line picture that  I can fine picture  is a boeing C17...
short  and broad... very very low..

just now I was  getting some granola and hubby is on the porch with a beer.. we have been monitoring the bat population
he yells   come out here fast!....I thought bats

S H I T !!!!!!..no bats..but over the barn is a triangle of lights and following it was a line of  lights .. it was not silent..it was loud but moving fast
same course as this morning ..higher but not plane height

the three lights in front was slightly to the left of the  longer line of lights and I thought towing it.. they were low and LARGE
as they passed the first one sort of disappeared..but it was only the lights weren't visible from that vantage point
but the line of lights..9 ore 11 in a row  different colors was a distinct triangle from the rear..with lights on the three points as it was moving away...

it had to be military  they came from north west and flew south making a slight turn right over us.

so into the what the hell was that goes this sighting


and of course the camera is on another floor.. figures, huh....I think it will be attacked to me from now on

Good work on sitting down and getting it all down while it is fresh!

Very interesting sighting! I wish you had your camera with ya,
may I suggest when you have time, make a drawing of it, the
both of you, from my experience you will be glad you did.

this mornings very low fly over




this one appeared to be towing
it was three points of light with the center a large red and two smaller white lights slightly behind it as it came towards us but distinctly this as it left



this one..was being towed...lights were three colors but I can't tell you the sequence
.. no question there was some kind of line between them
it look similar to when planes are refueling in the air






edit to add

we have several military bases here  and these were probably from one of them

edit again .. found the link  and yep this is the plane
hubby was in the engineers and build air strips and he said he thought it was a c 130

8/30/2014 - PITTSBURGH IAP ARS -- Col. Craig C. Peters reenlists eight Airmen of the 911th Airlift Wing along with nine members of the Development and Training Flight in front of a C-130 Hercules, Aug. 2, 2014, at the Pittsburgh International Airport Air Reserve Station. The reenlistment ceremony was held after a brief commander's call and in conjunction with the wing's annual Family Day festivities.

So the triangle appeared to be on a tow line? Any chance it was refueling?

This reminds me of the low observable UAV purposes for refueling. :-)

LSWone, I believe if you re-read that, the triangle was towing/re-fueling the boomerang, unless I am mis-reading it...

yes it could very well have been refueling... the 911 is a refueling wing and we have seen them practice more than once overhead

what was interesting is that the evening planes took the same route as the morning one.. so the speculation is the morning one was a recon

you don't know how I am kicking myself for not having the camera  with me...I had taken some pics earlier and it was beside the computer on the other floor, of course...sigh


after it was gone hubby who doesn't believe in ufo's actually said
when it came over the tree line he thought he was seeing a ufo...lol

if we hadn't been outside on those two occasions we would have never know they went over..

our discussion today has been on the type of sound..besides loud
and hubby says  almost helicopter/huey loud
I'm still going with roaring..

lugging the camera around is getting tiresome..lol

it was already dark when they came over.....
there was a full moon last night but it was clouded over..
so what we saw were lights comeing towards us
the tree line is about 450 feet from the porch and the horizon further out
(there are maybe 3 to 4 thousand acres back that way without humans)

we saw lights coming towards us
by the time I got out there were two sets of lights about half of that distance
the first set was a larger red light with small white lights out from it

hubby says that he thinks that was the C130 cause he says he could see the tail
I just saw the lights

the second set of lights that were further back from the first ones and to the right of them
I don't know if they were higher or on the same level 
but it was a row of lights..there was color but I can't tell you where the color was in the line of white lights
as they sort of turned you could see the line between them

it was a loud roar and almost over the house they made a slight adjustment to a
more southerly direction as they were going away from us
I saw a dark triangle against a dark sky...after thinking about it I can't tell you which set of lights it was..but as they were going away from us there weren't any visible lights in the rear or under them...just that triangle shape
..if the moon had been out it would have been easier to see

they were lower than normal airplane flight.. but higher than the treetop flight of the c130 that flew over in the morning

you figure we viewed them for maybe a 1000 ft total so it was brief and speed would be a guess...they weren't slow or fast but steady

I don't know if they were both making  a sound or if only one was ..which one is another guess..

it's raingin now so I came in but I have been hearing jets most of the day..just can't see anything with the clouds

we see all kinds of things in the sky here and one day I will get some good pics...
I don't think we are dealing with ET's but who the heck knows...it's very busy out there

sky otter, as you don't have a photo of the event could you take a photo from the place(s) where you saw them and draw them on the photo? That would help get an idea of what you saw.

oh armap..  you make it sound like I would know how to do that..lol

I did take a pic earlier tonight of the sight line from the porch to the tree line..
but drawing anything is beyond my skill level...
give me a minute to get it here




if you do one finger on the photo right at the middle area of the tree line it will give you an approximate height
and dead center in the pic for placement
from the tree line to the house is a slight sloop up..
