50 (?) patrons hostage in ISIS takeover of Sydney restaurant

Television footage showed at least three people, thought to be employees of the cafe and who were visibly distressed, holding a black sign with the Islamic creed written on it up to the window. Commissioner Scipione said police were "trying to work out what it stands for".

The BBC's Security Correspondent Frank Gardner said the flag was similar to but not the same as that used by the Islamic State militant group in the Middle East.

New South Wales Police Commissioner Andrew Scipione said the situation was not being treated as a terror incident, but confirmed there was "an armed offender in the premises holding an undisclosed number of hostages".

The Lindt company said about 10 employees and 30 customers were thought to be inside. Nearby offices were evacuated and police asked people to remain indoors and away from open windows.

An armed man wearing a backpack and a bandana could be seeing walking around inside the cafe.

Some members of staff could be seen wearing their shop aprons and standing with their hands up at the windows. There is also a black and white flag being held up in a window. It is believed to be the Black Standard, a jihadist flag.

I am about eight hours' drive north of Sydney.  Several people are sitting in the hostel common room, watching coverage of this incident as I type.  The Prime Minister, the Opposition Leader Bill Shorten, and one of the media commentators have already made truly disgusting speeches, laden with the usual appeals to authoritarianism and cowardice, where the public are reminded who their glorious, fearless "protectors," are.

There is no doubt whatsoever in my mind, that this is a false flag event, orchestrated by someone within Australian or Western intelligence.  As I came back out from the common room to my bedroom here, I could hear on the television how the ISIS flag was being paraded around the building around four times, and one of the media commentators actually said that seeing the flag, "was the important thing."

What is truly amazing, is how transparent these events have become.  Every time they happen, the politicians and talking heads always give the same message.  Shorten kept pounding on the word, "unity."

"Look at your glorious law enforcement authorities.  They protect you.  They keep you safe from the terrorists.  We in government are your benevolent parents.  Never question this.  Obey us, and everything will be fine.  We will keep the scary brown people away."

It should be abundantly clear to everyone here by now, that I am no fan of Islam.  Yet rather than believing that Muslims are genuinely behind these acts, I feel that it is more a case that Islam's inherent ugliness makes the religion a fantastic scapegoat for fascist politicians.  There has never been a better scapegoat, and so that is why they love to use it.

Australia's current Prime Minister, Tony Abbott, is a puppet of Washington, and he also has a popularity rating of 42%.  This incident is being staged for the purpose of continuing to solidify Abbott's image as a "national security leader," which is the image that George W. Bush also initially held.

It just so happens that the police conducted overnight counter-terrorism drilling in Martin Place last year; which was, of course, the site of the terrorist incident less than 24 hours ago.

It also turns out that this attack happened on the same day as news was released, of a modification to the Australian federal budget.

As soon as I saw the news story and the media hype, I knew this was either staged or they were hyping it to the max.
When you see the perpetrators sheet he has been involved in sending foul letters to deceased soldiers families and is currently on bail for thevrape of a young girl.
Abott and Hockey just signed the banking agreement at the G20 which allows bankrupt banks to seize the savings of its customers, and to treat them as assets. This is to allow government to no longer have the expense of bailing out failing banks and thereby increasing their 'slush funds'!

-The Heist occur's in view of TV stations (hard to make much of that as the dice could roll either way)

I don't know if it was or not, but I find it strange that the police could not "solve the problem" in a better way. Yesterday, when I first saw about this, I was watching some live video feed and the guy talking was saying that Australia has the best police for situations like this.

He was either wrong or too right, depending on what really happened.

I must say that after just watching some Taipei Marathon vid's trying to get the gist of the course along with the vibe I thought about this thread which I didn't comment on about an hour earlier due to not really having much of an opinion on what occurred only to recall that you had posted here and that it seemed like whatever your opinion was wasn't well received.  And I don't know why?   

I'm interested in knowing what you perceived as occurring in regards to the cultural aspect?

If it helps I will give my assessment on the tragedy:

1: From all report's I've read and listened to over this period I've come to the conclusion that this guy is a bonafide fruitcake, not a ISIL construct.  A Victim of his own "sick mind".

2: One of my close friends who follows "Islam" as his "Religion", has been quite devastated by this happening due to the fact that  Most Aussie's "May Perceive Him" as "Being a Muslim" in the eye's of the way the media present people who choose to follow the alternative "GOD" Path to Christianity.  Same GOD, but one camp through media persecute the other.     

3:  I did, and still do find it ODD how this occurred right when the Gov was about to announce a shocker of a budget.  Having said that, any Aussie who think's this "Golden Land" can avoid a recession is quite blinded...

3:  I may be a times trying to find good in somewhere others may not, but to be perfectly honest I've worked and lived with Iranian's and they are in my own experience lovely people. The only qualm I have with those Iranians I have had direct contact with here in Melbourne is that use way too much After Shave LOL 

4: I guess I ask this too as your username is Top End, so I kinda figure you may be from Darwin or there about's.  I would love to hear what you think about this in more detail rather than react to some post's you read.  At the end of the day this is the web, and in most case's we are failing broadly on the web to understand each other due to the inherent lack of direct contact face to face communication to learn that another human is in fact, not a bad person. 

5: For an example of the above.  My interaction with people who follow Islam in Melbourne may be totally different to your's.  That I do not know, and one I would enjoy reading about.
