Its hard to determine if there is problems with increasing Co2 carbon dioxide out put...Yes it seems it may aid in polluting
the planet....but trees absorb Co2 and create oxygen...

If the trees and forests are being destroyed by Big Business...it  seems there are less trees..BUT increased Co2 levels are helping trees grow much faster...

so where is the balance  I wonder ? and at what rates & levels are these things happening...

severe reduction of trees, may well increase the Co2 levels to concerning levels...enough trees may help balance things out...no matter how much Co2 is being created within reason...

They say the rain forest has decreased severely ...maybe, but is it growing back  faster again  if Co2 has risen ?

I have seen many people say that, but they don't say (because of ignorance, because they don't remember or because they do not want to point to that) that that only happens during the day, during the night plants use oxygen and produce CO₂. Yes, they produce more O₂ during the day than CO₂during the night, but they do produce CO₂

Full Disclosure: It appears that Wendelle Stevens was a friend of my father. As I was raised primarily on the farm in Colorado, and Wing's office and primary location was in Los Angeles, I seem to have missed meeting many of Father's contemporaries.

The discerning student may be interested in the following.

The transformation in technology started early.

Evidence from the lectures of Wendelle Stevens and others has convinced me that aliens worked with German scientists as early as 1929 to assist humans in developing anti-gravity systems.  This was done, presumably, to help us minimize the polluting aspects of fossil fuels when we started carrying passengers in airplanes.

A condition for assistance was that we would not use this technology for war.  Hitler violated the condition in 1938 when he attached an anti-tank gun turret to the bottom of a 100-foot-diameter flying saucer.

Pleiadians then removed from Germany his militarized saucers and the scientists that built them, and some of the scientists continued their work in an underground facility in the Antarctic, away from the warring nations.  Admiral Byrd and others were sent there to investigate after the WW II.

Germany continued to develop anti-gravity systems in Europe, but the only wartime use allowed was to spray benzene in the path of US bombers when we were killing tens of thousands of civilians by carpet bombing German cities with incendiary bombs. Such fuel/air explosions helped stop this horrific killing in Germany.

The US, UK, and Australia each captured anti-gravity technologies, and we brought 30 flying saucers to the White Sands Missile Range and Area 51 in 1945.

This rapidly evolving technology allowed humans to put bases on our moon and Mars by 1963.

New, non-polluting energy sources have been developed for world citizens by major corporations to support the underground and off-planet bases, but they are still restricted from the warring nations.

When all national leaders choose peace, technologies that can greatly reduce fossil fuel use will be released to the general public.

Thanks to the High-Frequency Active Auroral Research Project (HAARP), the size of the ozone hole in the northern hemisphere is being controlled while world leaders gain better control of production and handling of destructive chlorine and fluorine compounds.

Since 1997 large-scale chemical sprays are temporarily reflecting some of the sun's energy to help balance the warming effects of the increasing carbon dioxide blanket.

I think that some world leaders anticipate that the need for this program will be reduced or eliminated by a significant reduction in the population resulting from serious earth traumas occurring in 2012.

I have seen much evidence that both angels and aliens influence these important decisions...

Lets face it, the prospects of the Feds gaining tax money from the
elderly folks is pretty slim....so they might backroom reason to
just find ways to turn a blind eye, or worse.

If one doubts this, go spend a few days with an elderly freind
or loved one in a so called "rest home".

What areas of Brazil and other South American nations do you see with tracts of forest being restored or filling back in? I see them continuing to clear and burn vast areas but I don't see the cleared ground left behind recovering?

It seems to me, the damage done in the clearing of rain forest by square miles at a time to support cattle and soybeans for decades at this stage, has done far more damage than nature can hope to repair within timelines we'll be around to see. When we look at the drought conditions now adding insult to injury across the region which previously did supply a % of Earth's oxygen, it just gets more depressing IMO.

Do grass and crops and other vegetation associated with farming not also produce oxygen? Is there any study that shows the Earth has less oxygen than it did before the industrial revolution?

Did you know that CARS and other ozone emitters are a great source of oxygen?

Ozone released from such fossil fuel sources breaks down to oxygen relatively quickly  For those who don't know OZONE is OXYGEN     Oxygen is O  but because of its molecular structure it like company so we get O₂  which is what we Oxygen Eaters breath.  Ozone is O₃  It is created when UV light hits the Oxygen, excites it and makes a threesome.

But as the energy decipitates, the threesome breaks up to O₂ again, Oxygen's preferred state

Since Algae produces the planets largest portion of oxygen (80%ish)  I would want to see a study to see how much LESS O₂ the planet has because of rain forest removal before hitting the panik button

The drought conditions are another issue entirely

One BIG reason is that the surface water is disappearing under ground...  As it does that the surface evaporation which produces weather (thus rain and snow fall) is changing. If less and less water evaporate, there will be less to fall back as rain

What about the hole at the south pole? who is controlling that one?

The concern with the fluorocarbons was that it broke up the oxone faster than it was created... That turned out to be bad scince But I am all for ANYTHING even scare tactics to stop pollution

An Arctic ice cap's shockingly rapid slide into the sea

years, scientists have documented the rapid retreat of Arctic ice, from melting glaciers in Greenland to shrinking snow cover in far northern Eurasia. Now researchers have discovered one Arctic ice cap that appears to be literally sliding into the sea.

Ice is disappearing at a truly astonishing rate in Austfonna, an expanse of frozen rock far north of the Arctic Circle in Norway's Svalbard island chain. Just since 2012, the ice cap covering the island has thinned by a whopping 160 feet, according to an analysis of satellite measurements by a team led by researchers at Britain's University of Leeds.

Put another way, the ice cap's vertical expanse dropped in two years by a distance equivalent to the height of a 16-story building. As another comparison, consider that scientists were recently alarmed to discover that one of Western Antarctica's ice sheets was losing vertical height at a rate of 30 feet a year.

"It is a very large signal," said Mal McMillan, a geophysicist and one of two researchers at Leeds'  Center for Polar Observation and Modelling who worked on the study. "The ice cap has slumped out into the ocean with a substantial loss of ice."

McMillan and colleague Andrew Shepherd analyzed changes in Austfonna's ice using data from satellites that measure, among other things, changes in elevation. They found that the gradual melting of the island's 1,550-cubic-mile ice cap recently shifted into overdrive, for reasons that aren't fully understood.  Small ice caps like the one over Austfonna are believed to be more vulnerable to climate change-related thawing because relatively more surface area is exposed to the air and sea.

In this case, the ice cap lost one-sixth of its original thickness in two years, and the flow of ice from the summit to the sea accelerated by 25 fold, to a rate of several kilometers a year, a fast clip by glacier standards, the study found.

"What we see here is unusual because it ...  appears to have started when ice began to thin and accelerate at the coast," Shepherd said.

The research, published in the journal Geophysical Research Letters, illustrates how quickly ice caps can evolve, highlighting the challenges associated with predicting future impact of climate change, the scientists said. Arctic experts are closely watching changes in polar ice because of the potentially profound implications for sea-level rise. About a third of the increase in sea level in recent decades is attributed to melting glaciers and ice sheets, and researchers worry that more rapid melting could eventually swamp coastal cities around the world.

Still, researchers say, it's too early to say definitively if the shrinking of the Austfonna ice cap is due to global warming. Ice caps can shift suddenly for reasons that have nothing to do with climate, McMillan said. But in this case the list of possible culprits would certainly include warmer ocean water and air temperatures, both of which have risen more rapidly in the Arctic compared to the rest of the planet, he said.

"We've only seen this for a couple of years," he said he said of the Austfonna meltdown, "so we really need to monitor it further."
