does anyone find it strange why the mainstream media is portraying the first episode in a negative way

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-35399303

QuoteNostalgia regret

Tucker generally lamented the show's return, saying it was a casualty of a modern-day obsession with nostalgia.

"Why can't we leave well enough alone, re-watch the episodes we love and let the phenomenon rest? Because nostalgia is powerful; it summons up rich emotions and memories, but it's not often the fuel for vital creativity," he said.

"'We've moved on with our lives', Scully says early on in the hour. Perhaps the audience for the new episodes will end up feeling the same."

It is a view shared by Tim Goodman of the Hollywood Reporter, who was given a preview earlier this month: "Why the need to revisit this show now? Nostalgia?

"What we're left with is a very underwhelming hour that will force even die hard fans (and yes, I was one of them) to consider whether pushing onward is really worth the time."

Jonathan Bernstein in The Daily Telegraph agreed that racking up old TV ground was a debatable choice by Fox, and maybe not the wisest.

I watched and enjoyed the show.  If the critics don't like it, so be it.  It's just for entertainment in my opinion.

I think it is great that issues are being at least talked about on main stream TV.  There was a scene where there was a discussion talking about how since 9-11, we have lost more and more freedoms in the name of protecting us from terrorism, through surveilance cameras, monitoring of web/cell phones/email etc.

I thought the flying machine in the faraday cage was really cool, and pondered how close to the truth was it?

Anyways I give it a thumbs up and will watch coming episodes.

We only know 2 percent huh?  We maybe can't handle the truth! 8)

I DVR'd last nights episode and when I finally got around to watching it... It was run over by 30 mins of football. I've never seen an episode before but loved the 30 mins I did get to view!

I will make sure to see all of tonight's 2nd episode. Does anyone know how I could see the first one soon? Or will I just have to wait?

I suspect a lot of Conspiracist or UFO / ET reasearchers resulted from that series...
I'm sure they did, but look at the state UFO research is today.  :P

QuoteSome may even suggest that there maybe truths in some things that the "X Files" may relate too..
Sure there are truths, but which ones?

Quotebut I think it was as good as any other TV series or movies that relate to such issues..
I think the same, I just think that all other TV series or movies of that kind are not worth my time. :)

It works for me but I have a feeling that only available in Canada.  Perhaps try again, or try Fox to see if they have live streaming for shows.

Stream recorders are available, but I don't know if they would work with this or not, I haven't used one in a long time.

I mentioned in a earlier recent message the other day that I have not seen the X files on what I call Standard U.K TV for some time.

I just happened to select a channel in the Freeview UK by total accident as there are many channels in the Freeview UK...

and the channel I selected is shown in the TV listings as being OFF the air..ie no programs listed at this time of Night..

But to my surprise... what do I see..

" The X Files" being shown... I couldn't believe it ! it had just started..

Ive not seen it being advertised anywhere..

I did a search on the Internet as it refers to Essential Collection and I found a website related to this particular channel...

and It shows that its been on for the last two weeks..and I had no idea and as I say it is not listed on std TV Listings..

It seems that they are showing what is suggested as 20 of the best episodes.. and adverts are saying that they are going to show the new series in the UK early February.

There is a link to a channel that suggest you can watch the replays.. but when I tried clicking on the videos it doesn't seem to work. Unless its a paid channel website...which ive not checked out so far..

The truth is out there... The X-Files creator Chris Carter picks his top 20 episodes of the era-defining hit sci-fi series. The X-Files Essential Collection ...

this is the list shown so far..

Gordon Duff's take on this stuff.  Typically, he seems like secrets mixed with lunacy - a pattern I've noticed in some people Who Really Do Know Too Much.  Saves them from 'meeting up with an accident'.

The world looks very weird right now. Is it because things really are very strange or just because we've awakened enough to realize how screwed up the world is and we can't figure why we never saw it before?

Many thanks for the link Funbox,

To my severe surprise the link works also in the U.K..

The opening looks very good and the Crashed UFO is one of the best that I think I have seen...

Like the E.T

The AVR UFO was impressive...was that an invisibility cloak or had it disappeared to another location at super speed ?

Ive always wondered are their such  craft that are hidden and only appear when they want to do so.....Matrix Traveller used to Claim so !

mention of Element 115 !  :)
