As Western Journalism has previously reported, the announcement of a military training exercise planned to take place across several southwestern U.S. states was met with skepticism by some who felt the so-called Jade Helm operation was part of a more sinister plot. Conspiracy theories began to surface suggesting this exercise could usher in a period of martial law across America. Furthermore, a perceived correlation with the abrupt closure of several Walmart stores in the same general region prompted additional speculation. Critics also questioned the military's motivation in distributing training material describing certain areas of the country as "hostile."

It's a Two-Part Mission

One U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary member taking part in the exercise recently addressed each of these theories in an effort to debunk the rumors surrounding Jade Helm.

Dakota Durham spoke to Western Journalism about his role in the operation, explaining he will serve as a patrol specialist. In a two-part mission, he explained his participation is limited to the second phase.

"Part one is a drill to simulate a large-scale war in the Middle East," he said, "especially with Iran. Part two is routine anti-terrorism and counterterrorism drills. I will be involved with part two. I will also be working with some other guys who are involved with both parts, especially the Army National Guard."

Participants are Patriots

Asked if he has heard anyone taking part in the exercise express uncertainty about its true intent, Durham said he has not.

"The majority of us are pretty offended and hurt by how everyone has been treating us," he said. "We've been called invaders, occupiers, Nazis, you name it."

He said most of the participants live in the very areas in which Jade Helm will take place.

"I live in Utah," he said. "We come from these areas; these are our homes, our families, the things we love. All of a sudden the people treat us like enemies who wish to take their rights when that is not true at all."

According to Durham, he and his fellow participants "would die for the Bill of Rights in a heartbeat" and "would never infringe upon those sacred rights."

He described the overall ideology of those taking part in Jade Helm as conservative, which is a primary reason they are eager to take on this mission.

"We do this job because we love you, our homes, and our freedoms," he said. "We would like to be seen as such."

Jade Helm's Real Intent

According to Durham, the states – and their respective designation as hostile or friendly – were selected to mirror a specific region of the Middle East.

"Texas became Iran," he said. "Utah became Turkey. New Mexico is Iraq. Nevada is Greece. Arizona is Jordan. California is Israel. Southern California is Palestine."

The end result of this exercise, he said, is to better prepare the military for real-world operations with life-and-death consequences.

"I'm sure it's just a drill to impress the importance of OPSEC, or Operations Security," he said. "We can't have important information falling into the hands of evil men who wish to kill and enslave us."

Durham once again stressed the commitment he shares with other Jade Helm participants to uphold, not destroy, the Constitution. He shared the following message with those who question his motivation.

After publishing the interview with Dale Lewis, I was contacted by Dale who said that his friend who met the soldier who went AWOL was now willing to come forward and share his story.

This is the audio recording with the man who was approached in a convenience store in Texas, by the soldier. This man prefers to keep his name private and is using the moniker "".

I urge everyone to listen and carefully consider the possibility that a false flag attack may be about to occur in Texas.

Regardless of what happens we believe that warning people is the best defense against any operation in the works.

What does the General have to say specifically about Operation Jade Helm itself?  I am beginning to have some doubts about some information being put out by various entities about some of the things going on about Jade Helm.

As you are aware I have been in the US Army for about 8 years, USAF active Reserve, 20 years law enforcement/correction and now pull armed security for a rail road.  Those so called rail cars enclosed by aluminum with chains in them are not cars to haul prisoners like they say.  They haul brand new vehicles.  Some of those containers hauling arms are mobile arms rooms and be assured they are monitored remotely in a very stealthy way just like any trucks hauling military cargo.  I see and have been involved in the past with moving an entire air defense battalion by rail from point A to point B.  In California at least twice we move and entire division (7th ID) to South California which also involved a huge mass of military equipment from various points in California.

An exercise of that magnitude also test the capability to logistically move entire units to test their ability to become operational in a short period of time...then uproot and move again and do the same thing.  If you fail to plan...you can plan to fail.  Training, training, training.  When I was in Europe we had specific missions (not desert training).  When I was sent to California...the mission changed and I went into desert training because the middle East was even having issues back then.

What they are training for now (again) is a Middle Eastern problem so they can be ready.  Once again the tactics have had to change because the Middle Eastern mission has changed from when I was in the military.  The Southern States have more of the type of topography you might find in the Middle East.

When I was in Germany, we performed our exercises right out in the German public, through and in their towns and in their fields.  Any damage to thier property was investigated and they were compensated for the damage.

Training has to be as exact as you can get it.  I have a family member that is a contractor and has taught Afghan Police properly perform searches in the urban environment all because that is what they have to do to weed out the enemy.  New enemy and new tactics.  You have to adjust your tactics to your situation.  That family member is now doing the same training somewhere else.

Yes we must remain vigilant but some of the things I am hearing about Jade Helm, I have heard before in another time and another place.  Overall training does not change but strategies and tactics adjust to the different missions and situations.  Just my humble opinion based on training, education and experience.

From my understanding, DHS actually contracted to purchase 1.6 BILLION, not million, hollow point rounds.

There may well be a National Guard exercise called "Jade Helm."  Thus far, no one has seen anyone, nothing has happened and we can assure you this, nothing will happen.  The whole thing is a hoax, part of the grand "fear porn" game.

Unlike the plot from the old 1964 cinema thriller "Seven Days In May," in which high-ranking military leaders planned to overthrow the presidency and take over the United States government, current branches of the military will be conducting a massive joint training exercise in several states to, ostensibly, test the readiness of our troops to deal with domestic terrorism in unfamiliar terrain.

Or so we're being told.

Code-named "Jade Helm 15," the combined two-month military operation will be conducted July 15 to Sept. 15 and involve certain regions in seven Western states, including Arizona.

Approximately 1,200 troops will be participating in the operation, embracing units of Army Green Berets, Navy Seals, Air Force Special Operations and regular Army infantry. Apparently, the Marine Corps wasn't invited.

Interestingly, it is thought United Nations assistance in the exercise is also a possibility.

The Jade Helm logo, depicting two crossed arrows over a vertical sword, a transparent klomp in the center (a klomp is a Dutch wooden shoe) and inscribed with the slogan "Master the Human Domain," seems odd in a home-front military training exercise intended to familiarize troops with strategies and tactics of non-friendly forces.

Suspiciously missing from the Jade Helm logo is the American flag and bald eagle, typically representative of the U.S. military. This may be the first time American troops have embarked upon an operation wearing a campaign patch emblazoned with the menacing image of a wooden shoe from a foreign country.

The secrecy of the exercise has provided a seemingly inexhaustible supply of fuel for conspiracy theorists.

Practically every conceivable political intrigue has been attached to the "real intent" of the Jade Helm exercise — from the imposition of mandatory gun confiscation, to rounding up and imprisoning defiant citizens, to dividing the United States into several distinct regions, each governed by an unelected federal bureaucrat, to the eventual implementation of a One World Government, to Obama proclaiming himself king. The list is lengthy and sometimes ludicrous, but not altogether beyond the realm of possibility.

To reassure the folks the current administration in Washington has their backs, on April 29, 2015, White House press secretary Josh Earnest reaffirmed critics of the Jade Helm training operation that "In no way will the constitutional rights or civil liberties of any American citizen be infringed upon while this exercise is being conducted."

Of course, it might be well to keep in mind this declaration is coming from the same White House that promised everyone if they "liked their health-care plan they could keep their health-care plan" and many other equally dubious statements.

As we've all come to realize, when President Obama speaks, oftentimes words lose their meaning.

These FEMA and DHS RVs were spotted in the southern parking lot of the FedEx Trucking Terminal In Texas, Just South of Georgetown. The last time this many Mobile Command Centers were spotted in one place was right before the big Fertilizer Plant Explosion.

So, this is just a heads up to them being on the move and in the area.

If the military wanted to keep Jade Helm secret, it could have been kept secret. The decision to run a "mass drill in several states" was intentionally done and purposefully allowed to "leak." 

The consequences of such a public revelation are much more useful for war gaming and future predictive responses than any imminent threat of martial law....maybe.

Whew, Thor...that is a lot of information.  I will have to step back for a few and digest what you just put out there.  All I can do is give an opinion.  That opinion would be based on my experiences as and 8 year Army vet...I was also active USAF Reserve for 3 years and then 20 years in law enforcement field.  Plus research of various items along the lines of this thread back in the late 80's up until now.

I am working full time, so it may very generalized as far as opinions go.  I will give it a try in about 3 days because I am in the middle of a work week.  I believe you are going to find that I do not entirely agree with my fellow veteran totally.

The Veteran Today editor I do not believe I trust his information because he has admitted that 40% of it is not really true.  Let me sit down an actually outline what I am going to say so it doesn't sound like rambling.
