This Self-Powered, Eco-Friendly Tiny House Lets You Dwell Anywhere On Earth

If you've ever wished you could post up on a mountaintop forever, then meet your new home.

Ecocapsule is a tiny, 86 square-foot living capsule that, as soon as next year, will enable owners to live virtually anywhere. Each mobile pod

comes with sleeping space for two, a mini kitchen, a fully functional toilet and shower, storage space, a desk and two windows.

The pods, which are currently in pre-production, harvest rainwater and remove bacteria all on their own, while powering themselves with sun and wind.

The capsule's battery can also charge electric cars, Gizmodo reports,

making the location possibilities breathtakingly endless -- from beaches to jungles to wide-open prairies.

Pricing for the Ecocapsules is not yet available, but Slovakia-based Nice Architects do know that shipping the pods to the U.S. will not be cheap --

it's estimated to cost about $2,400 to have a pod shipped to New York City.

Or you could just skip all the kerfuffle and build your own wooden cabin.

ECOCAPSULE

Dwelling with the spirit of freedom

Ecocapsule is a low-energy house packed into a compact form. It merges an energy efficient shape, compact volume and off-grid capabilities with the luxuries of a warm bed, running water and a hot meal.

Even though small in size, each Ecocapsule comfortably houses two adults. Its efficient spatial layout allows you to enjoy convenience of household facilities in off-grid conditions. Built-in kitchenette with running water, flushing toilet and hot shower are luxuries of a hotel room that are now also available in wilderness.

Plenty of storage space also fits all your sport or research equipment.

Despite its small form each Ecocapsule is fitted with all essentials necessary for a comfortable prolonged stay without a need to recharge or re-supply.

Ecocapsule is powered by a built-in wind turbine complemented with an array of solar cells. Dual power system and a high-capacity battery ensures that you will have enough power during periods of reduced solar or wind activity.

Spherical shape is optimized for the collection of rainwater and dew and the built-in water filters allow you to utilize any water source.

The body of an Ecocapsule is covered with 2.6m2 of high-efficiency solar cells and a retractable pole holding a 750W wind turbine is further attached to the body. This creates an energy system that can support you almost an entire year in many off-grid locations.

Ecocapsule fits into a standard shipping container and no special preparations and precautions are necessary to transport Ecocapsule worldwide. It can be shipped, airlifted, towed or even pulled by a pack animal.

I'm thinking about building something similar and putting it on the back of a truck or boat.

Things like this are the future; I've known that for a while now.  This is essentially a lower tech equivalent of what Amaterasu's character Izzy was living in, in The Abundance Paradigm, and what I also mentioned my future self owning in my response to that story.

Essentially you're going to see a scenario where, for all practical intents and purposes, locality largely ceases to exist, or at least be relevant.  Any form of centralised resource or energy production will likewise be resigned to the history books.  We will use the Internet to communicate, but we might physically live half way around the planet from each other, or at opposite ends of the solar system.

Doctor Brown was a little early.  The old system is unfortunately proving more tenacious than expected; but we'll get there.

Cute BUT...

I have seen large tents that were anchored down pulled up by the wind...

I have seen dome tents with person inside roll into a lake and become a sail boat from the wind...

One good gust and that egg is going to be the E ride at Disney :P

a}  It's a prototype.  Prototypes always have problems.  It's to be expected.

b}  The shape and aesthetics suggest to me that it is meant primarily as a status symbol for the moderately wealthy, who want to appear hip and as though they care about the environment.

I don't know if you're aware of the "minimalism" subculture, but it is essentially a way for those with less money, to successfully engage in status seeking and the attainment of narcissistic supply.  The focus has simply moved from bragging about how large your penis size is, to how small, but it's still fundamentally the same thing.  Still, the good news is that at least the latter form genuinely is better for the environment, even if it's still being driven by degenerate motivations.

If there is one thing I've learned to rely on, it's the ingenuity of the chronically narcissistic and superficial, in finding ways to subversively adapt literally any new movement that comes along, no matter how initially well intentioned, to their own pathological ends.

because  no matter what the topic  - no matter how totally innocuous it is  YOU have this pathological need to find the negative

and that shouldn't be funny but somehow it is funny and expected

have a hug and a smile and a wish for a nice day to you

This isn't actually true.  My first post in this thread wasn't negative.

Quotehave a hug and a smile and a wish for a nice day to you

Thank you.  I hope your own day goes well, also.

You just provided the reason why TAP will never happen :P

As for those with less money.... We make all this stuff ourselves  We buy metal cheap from Curtis Steel foe swords and Armor.. we buy canvas whole sale by the 200 yard bolts and we make it all ourselves.

I don't like 'roughing it" getting to old for that

Amy is fon of telling me it's just a fantasy :P WRONG It is an alternative lifestype with 40,000 in just the one org alone and there are many similar groups around the world

LOL! I first though this was in reference to TAP.  Heh.  Which yes, it is a fantasy.

Sorry should have been more clear :D

I use my "kingdom" as a microcosm to show how human nature works.  She says its not valid because its just a game fantasy.

But it isn't  it is a real expression of how humans work and seek a leader  Whether in a small group like mine, or a bigger org like the SCA or a country government

You CANNOT remove or ignore human nature...

The problem is not government as such... the problem is that the good people don't want to take the responsibility to lead while the greedy psycopaths relish it

From what I could find, the most expensive Smart car in the US is the electric version, at $28,000.

PS: there are many images missing from your last posts.
