Where she's going, she doesn't need roads: Woman set to test home-made time machine this week.

What does one make of this I wonder ?  :-\

A woman who placed a classified advert asking for a companion to test out her time machine is set to make the first journey this week.

The time traveller - known only as Anna, from Exminster. posted an advert on Gumtree asking for someone to join her in trying out her home-made device.

And after being "overwhelmed" by the amount of people who wanted to take part, she has chosen her Marty McFly and will attempt the journey on Friday.

She revealed: "I have been overwhelmed by the number of replies to my ad for a time travel companion on Gumtree.

"After sifting through thousands of replies I am pleased to say that I have found a suitable candidate.

"We will be making our maiden voyage this Fri night at around 19:00. Wish us luck!"

Luckily for those who might be slightly sceptical, the whole event will be live streamed over the Internet.

Rob Hutt from Big Shiny Ideas, the company handling the coverage, remained tight-lipped about what to expect, saying that details needed to remain "confidential".

However, he warned that locals might expect some side-effects, adding: "The experiment will be taking place at an undisclosed location in Mid Devon and our client would like to apologise in advance for any interference to any of the local residents electricity supply."

Very mysterious. Of course, if time travel is possible then it's already happened and she could have told us about it last week. In fact, she still could.

Still, if there's a Delorean involved we won't be able to contain our excitement.

You can watch the stream on Anna's website, www.myrealtimemachine.com on Friday at 9pm. An earlier showing will be held at 7.30pm at the Walkabout, Exeter.

Will my bet is its a 99.99% chance of being a wind up or its a magic trick by a Magician...

But It would be great to be proven wrong !...

I am not sure how even watching it Live may prove anything if it is.

We see Tricks done on TV all the time and until we discover how they do it which sometimes we do..
It appears reality !

The Only way that they could prove it is to the individual by asking them to go back in time and bring something back that has some meaning to them..

If somehow it proved real... I cannot imagine those who rule the world,  ever allowing it to become known if they could help it.  Unless it proves to be something that they do not actually know about.

There is one major problem with a time machine...

As the earth is MOVING through space at approximately 2 million MPH through 7 different directions at the same time...  If you go one minute into the future the planet will not be there at the same location

Speed of the Earth

This only accounts for some of the seven directions but it is close enough to give you the idea

Certainly  a LOT of factors one may envision to be taken into consideration.

Funny I was watching a very Interesting Science Program last Night that mentioned about How fast the Earth goes around the Sun as well as How fast the Sun goes around the Centre of the Galaxy..inc Earth as well. Which is even faster than that of the Earth going around the Sun.

Other factors involved as well... Makes it indepth to try to understand. ???

But yes Imagine if we were able to leave the Earth and find it having moved a head of us as such a rate of speed or motion.

I am NOT sure how a time machine may work in terms of the effects of the movement in the heavens or if somehow it just reacts to whatever goes on   the physics on Earth.

QuoteLight and Dark, Episode 2: Dark
Professor Jim Al-Khalili tells the story of how we went from thinking we were close to a complete understanding of the universe to realising we had seen almost none of it. Today, our best estimate is that more than 99 per cent of the cosmos is hidden in the dark, invisible to our telescopes and beyond our comprehension. The first hints that there might be more out there than meets the eye emerged from the gloom in 1846 with the discovery of the planet Neptune. It was hard to find, because there was precious little light to illuminate it. In the middle of the 20th century scientists discovered dark matter - stuff that wasn't just unseen, it was fundamentally un-seeable. In the late 1990s scientists trying to measure precisely how much dark matter there was in the universe discovered something even more elusive out there - dark energy, a mysterious new force driving the universe apart that is thought to make up a colossal 73 per cent of it

And that's why you build a quantum computer that runs an universe map first, THEN you go play with your time machine.  :P

QuoteFuture quantum computers with machine learning could attack larger sets of data than classical computers

Quote"We could map the whole Universe — all of the information that has existed since the Big Bang — onto 300 qubits." — Seth Lloyd

QuoteSeth Lloyd of MIT and his collaborators have developed a quantum version of machine learning — a type of AI in which programs can learn from previous experience to become progressively better at finding patterns in data. It would take advantage of quantum computations to speed up machine-learning tasks exponentially, Nature News reports.

Data can be split into groups — a task that is at the core of handwriting- and speech-recognition software — or can be searched for patterns. Massive amounts of information could therefore be manipulated with a relatively small number of qubits.

"We could map the whole Universe — all of the information that has existed since the Big Bang — onto 300 qubits," Lloyd says.

Such quantum AI techniques could dramatically speed up tasks such as image recognition for comparing photos on the web or for enabling cars to drive themselves — fields in which companies such as Google have invested considerable resources.

Putting quantum machine learning into practice will be more difficult. Lloyd estimates that a dozen qubits would be needed for a small-scale demonstration.

The ideas are explored in a series of five (open-access) arXiv papers. [...]

Not sure what happen with the Time traveller.

I can only imagine this is some sort of Publicity stunt.

              ----------------------

Without giving any prior notice to the film crew, Anna the Time Traveller decided to leave with her companion a day early. The only explanation Anna provided to us was something to do with optimum time travel conditions, more specifically relating to air pressure. We, the film crew, were unprepared for an earlier departure and therefore only managed to capture the event on our main DSLR camera from outside the barn and two mini cams, one mounted on the main camera and one handheld inside the barn.

Rob Hutt, one of the documentary filmmakers explains 'One minute we're sleeping in the cottage and the next myself and Jez are woken by a loud humming noise and what sounded like someone hammering on metal. We both threw some clothes on, grabbed some cameras and ran in the direction of the barn. You'll see what happens next in the video for yourself but you won't see what happened after that.

We were both knocked off our feet as a result of a sudden and violent gust of wind. When we picked ourselves up, we saw what appeared to be a door made of light in the middle of the yard. It was freestanding with what seemed to be a silhouette of Anna standing behind it. As far as we are aware neither myself or Jez lost consciousness at any point during these events, yet it would have been impossible for Anna to have moved that quickly from the barn to the middle of the yard, a distance of around 75 metres.

As of today, Friday 26th June, we are still trying to rescue footage from the cameras which were damaged due to electromagnetic interference. Once we have recovered the footage of the light door and of the interviews we conducted with Anna the previous day (if this is even possible), we will update the website. Currently Anna, her companion and the time machine are all missing but we are treating what we witnessed in the video as UNVERIFIED until we obtain tangible evidence to suggest otherwise. Our job now is to try and recover as much lost footage as possible, and based on other information that has come to light, we have opened a formal investigation.

Please keep checking the website for further updates.'

I saw this posted about on another site. It piqued my interest. I just clicked the link to her site in the above post and viewed the video.

Query:

What is with the multicolored stage lighting. This is all so obviously fake it makes me wonder how anyone would believe any part of it is true.

But I will try to suspend disbelief for a while longer. You never know I guess.

And besides: It's fun.

But their special effects could have been better if you ask me.

Poorly executed multicolored stage lighting.

Pfft.

An update on what they were upto...

If we can believe their suggestions.

I still suspect its just a Publicity stunt  with some other agenda.

When we decided to create the story of www.myrealtimemachine.com at the beginning of June 2015, we did so with a sense of fun. However, when our website received over 100,000 visitors from over 150 countries in it's first week and our story was picked up by some of the worlds largest media companies, (including BBC, Fox and Yahoo to name but a few) plus an approach from a major US radio station with a listenership of millions, we realised that you, the people, had a real passion and interest for the real scientific theory behind time travel. We also recieved thousands of responses from other Time Travellers and hopeful Time Travel Companions. Just take a second to google 'Devon Woman Time Machine' or 'myrealtimemachine' and you'll see why.

Humbled by this, we have decided to conduct a real and genuine investigation into the possibilities of time travel. We would like to bring together a team of scientists, mathematicians, physicists and engineers to ascertain whether the theory could be put into practice, culminating with a very real possibility of building a prototype time machine. We intend to document every step of this fantastic journey and take the viewer with us to the far most corners of human imagination and invention. We also intend to follow up with many of the time travellers and time travel companions that replied to the original ad. One argument for time travel being impossible is 'if time travel could be invented now or in the future, where are all the time travellers?'. Well did some of them reply to our ad offering moral support? We intend to find out.

THIS is the danger of the internet... No matter whether a story is true or not, it will go viral as "the truth"  As long as it's a good story, no one cares about truth :P

One argument for time travel being impossible is 'if time travel could be invented now or in the future, where are all the time travellers?'.

THIS is of course a very valid point
