Stephen Fry Annihilates God

Ask... and Ye shall receive (an answer)

Elvis Hendrix

Yea Mr Fry is one extremely cool and eloquent dude.
"Today, a young man on acid realized that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration – that we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively. There's no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we're the imagination of ourselves. Here's Tom with the weather."

No, not at all! Mr. Fry simply doesn't understand that there is much difference in what God created, and what man's sinful disobedience allowed/allows satan to do. God is not the author of sickness, disease and death, but rather all such comes directly from satan and his influence to the world. And the fact that God's man Adam did what he did, all that was Adam's became satan's, which included the Earth and all that was/is here.

But, God's sacrifice of his Son has made a way for all of that to be changed/overcome, and one day soon, even "DEATH will be swallowed up in victory" (1 Cor 15-54) :)

QuoteWho created man? Who created Satan?

really you have to ask this...

humans created both  because they were and mostly are unable to take responsiblity for themselves and their messes..
it's called
pass the buck..
wasn't me
god or satan will take care of it...
they'll get what they deserve

I know I shouldn't but here goes.

God created man and Satan. God made all things. Pretty easy to understand.

Ok now I've done it! :-X

Ah! So Satan created mosquitoes an earwigs? Satan creates Earthquakes and Tsunamis?

Who was it that sent the plague that took out Egypt's First Born?

Exodus 11

11 Now the Lord had said to Moses, "I will bring one more plague on Pharaoh and on Egypt. After that, he will let you go from here, and when he does, he will drive you out completely. 2 Tell the people that men and women alike are to ask their neighbors for articles of silver and gold." 3 (The Lord made the Egyptians favorably disposed toward the people, and Moses himself was highly regarded in Egypt by Pharaoh's officials and by the people.)

4 So Moses said, "This is what the Lord says: 'About midnight I will go throughout Egypt. 5 Every firstborn son in Egypt will die, from the firstborn son of Pharaoh, who sits on the throne, to the firstborn son of the female slave, who is at her hand mill, and all the firstborn of the cattle as well.

Seems pretty straight forward there... easy to understand...  The LORD not Satan told them to collect gold and silver from the neighbors while they were still friendly and then He would wipe out all the first born, even of innocent cattle.

I think that one makes Fry's point dontcha think?

Jesus said: "Resist Temptation!" :P  (or something like that :P

QuoteGod created man and Satan.

Then why did God need an ARMY to defeat Satan?  Just wondering :D

QuoteGod made all things.

Except... a boulder bigger than he can lift...  Tough on that :P

QuotePretty easy to understand.

Not really, no, because there are other books that have different versions ;) and all those riddles and parables are so confusing

QuoteOk now I've done it! :-X

Temptation is a hard Master :P

"Who was it that sent the plague that took out Egypt's First Born"?

Answer - the same one that brought the flood of Noah's time, and killed every human and animal that that breathed air, except for those that were on the Ark! Of course, the "Ark" itself was simply a shadow of Jesus that was to come, and for what he would do for man!! †

So you agree that your God gets a little bit over zealous when he throws a Hissy fit and just wipes out everything in site. Yes?

No!! NOT! The one God of this Universe can and does do as he pleases! I would not even think about questioning His actions, although they are always very interesting. He does know the end of all from the beginning, and his plan will prevail as is detailed his Word - The Holy Bible, from the which you above prior quoted the scriptures from the book of Exodus.  :)

Hmmmm   Then why were we given brains to think with, if not to question? Could have just left us as Monkeys

Elvis Hendrix

To contemplate the actual complexities of life and death, and the entire journey in between would take a brain with more computing power than we are yet to recognise.
An easier option is to lay the reasons and results at the hands of an invisible mythical deity. The deity changes slightly  throughout the chronological and geographical world, and simply takes on the cultural ethics and mores to suit its current time or place.
God is a simple release valve if you will.

God is the esoteric knott in the very real balloon.
