In about 3 years, US tax money will only cover entitlements, interest on the debt and defense. In about 7 years, EVERY DOLLAR SPENT ON THE MILITARY WILL HAVE TO BE BORROWED.  "Uh, China , we would like to threaten you but could you lend us a few hundred billion?". If there is a recession, it happens much faster.

What ever you might think about a Certain Loudmouth Running For President, he brings up some things no one else will talk about and that includes the cost of Empire.  A mulitpolar world is going to be a lot different.

I'd go further than that.  Once the US gov has no tax money to pay for anything beyond entitlements and interest, what happens next?

Will there be a coup in 7 years?  How can the US gov dump Social Security and maintain any sort of democracy? (even retirees have guns and will vote out anyone who threatens them).

Of course, the candidates won't talk about reality.  They need to make huge changes now and where's the discussion?
