What happened when this teddy bear came to picnic.
Grizzly Adams saved the day !

A Black Bear Was Drowning When This Brave Man Did Something Heroic.

This guy must have been almost as strong as a bear to achieve this feat ! Quite amazing !...never seen anything like this before.

I copied this so that  one does not have to click thru 14 pages to read the story...if one was to try to read it thru the link..

Animals, especially wild ones are very hard to predict. This is a story of an unpredictable wild bear in Florida!

Nosy Neighbour

When this hungry bear thought it was a necessity to find a snack, he went in one house and there, he was caught red pawed rummaging through a Florida resident's rubbish.

The 400lb black bear was spotted raiding garbage bags in Alligator Point, Florida when local wildlife authorities were called to return the bear back to his natural habitat.

Shot with a tranquillizer dart!

When wildlife officers arrived they shot him with a tranquilizer dart hoping to sedate him, but instead it made matters worse.

The bear makes a run for it!

The bear became frightened by the dart and ran frantically toward a gulf and right into the water. Unfortunately as the bear began to swim farther out, the tranquilizer took it's effect.  Sapped of energy, the sedative drug began to kick in and the bear started to drown.

To the rescue!

Adam, an officer from the wildlife commission, jumped into action, swimming towards the dying bear who was beginning to lose his faculties. His co-workers looked on, documenting the courageous rescue with photos while others tried to figure out how to now rescue both Adam and the black bear.

Adam explained, "I took off my shirt and shoes, jumped in the water and swam in the direction to head him off and keep him from going into deeper water. Once I did that, I got in front of him, tried to create some splashing and some commotion and tried to get him to go back into shore. But he wasn't having any of that."

Adam was brave, but something was wrong...

Not fazed by the sheer size and strength of the bear, weighing over 400lbs Adam dived in to make a brave rescue attempt and started trying to swim with the bear... but something was wrong...

The bear awoke

Towing the bear back to shore, Adam knew if the animal regained consciousness, he could be mauled at any moment. The bear did begin to open it's eyes, on top of this the currents of the water started to make swimming very difficult.

The bear became fully conscious...

Despite the bear being fully conscious at this point, the feeling in its legs meant the bear could not swim for itself so it had to trust Adam. Not to mention that the duo will be needing help from nearby. Its not easy paddling 400lb of flesh and fur from the ocean, even when the ocean makes weight a little bit lighter, its still 400lb.

The boat came to rescue them!

With the bear's life in his hands, Adam swam over to a nearby boat for help, but there, the bear was too heavy to lift on board – there wasn't much they could do. The boat can only carry enough weight before it tips and endanger more lives. Clearly, they couldn't risk that.

The bear could not be lifted onto the boat...

There was nothing for it, he had to tow the bear back to shore by himself. He had to will his legs to do it, and pray that the bear understands that he is being saved by this man. Anyway, it also seems like this bear is fine being held by Adam towards safety.

Things look better

But despite his increasing fatigue, the brave biologist managed to haul the 400 lb bear to shallower waters. And sure enough, they would be needing as much help as they can get. Even when men are strong, surely, not all can carry a 400lb bear to shore all by himself.

Help comes!

Exhausted from the 25 yard swim, another man helped to hoist the bear onto dry land. It sounds like everything is done, but it isn't. Not quite.

A Tractor Came

However, the bear weighed too much for the crew to handle, so they used a tractor to move the sedated bear instead. Such convenience to have a tractor at bay. Good riddance for Mr. Adams, and his aching feet. Moreover, he was able to save a life.

Now on dry land, Adam made sure the bear was safely loaded onto the truck for transportation back to the forest. And this "little" bear looks apologetic and thankful for what this man did to him. And surely, he wouldn't want to do any of those again, though he might come back for his savior? Well, we wouldn't know.

After regaining consciousness, the bear was released back into the wild at Osceola National Forest.

Next time he's hungry for a snack, this bear might think twice before rummaging through people's garbage.

It's a great story, but I think I saw this some two years ago, I'll look for it.  :)

It's older, it's from 2008!  :o

It seems to be quite common now for certain websites to create old articles... :(

This has happened in a few threads that I posted this last week so far...to later find either the article or video was posted some time ago.

I am not sure if any prior articles on the bear story had included photos with the story....The one you referred to was just an article but there may have been others posted somewhere..

If not maybe it was still worth posting as the images do make it more interesting to look at I think...

What I first remembered was the photos, and I'm surprised the story is so old.
I will look for other sources. :)

Edited to add this link, with photos and a video interview with the man that rescued the bear.
