Apparently we have someone that sounds like they need a new kitty.

So I did a google image search of shelter kitties and I know no one can ever replace adventure kitty, but many of these look like they would like to have some adventures of their own too!

Cat shelter manned entirely by volunteers -

Apparently they take a great interest in what you are reading as well -

...so remember to read to your kitty's, they will thank you for it! (Just not that stoooopid ol 'cat in the hat!)  ;)

And see if you can answer this question no matter where you live -

If so please visit your local shelter.  ;D

So cute!  All my kitties are rescues.  Several were left behind when home in my area were foreclosed.  Saige's family literally kicked her out for being pregnant.

Book Buddies

Children in grades 1-8 who are able to read at any level are invited to the shelter to read to the cats in our adoption room.

The program will help children improve their reading skills while also helping the shelter animals by providing socialization and human interaction.

Cats find the rhythmic sound of a voice very comforting and soothing.

Thanks Thor! How is your little one doing?

Haven't seen any pics for a while.

Shasta - That is great news.

All my doggies and cats have always been rescues too, they rock!

My sister went to the shelter one time and this all white fluffy kitty climbed up her pants, up her sweater and wrapped her arms around her neck and wouldn't let go for nuthin!

Sis said 'well looks like this is the one!'

She named her Gwinny btw.

;D

eta: She walked out of there with Gwenny still wrapped around her neck! LOL

I would love to have a cat (again), but the conditions are not good for that, as although we are three at home we have different work hours and it wouldn't be good to leave a new kitty alone.

Thank you.  It's pretty accurate.  My stress level has been about 23 on a scale of 1-10.  I refused to go to Universal Studios with my grandkids today, because they were so horrible at San Diego Zoo yesterday.

:) We have 4 cats...2 from a shelter, 1 was abused and taken from the family and brought to us as my wife is a well known animal lover in these parts, and our oldest cat we have we got as a kitten from someone giving them away. Could never understand why they seem to always need to come see you when your in the bathroom though. :P

Don't you know they are here to study the humans? :)

I would love to see pics of any of y'alls kitty cats you would care to share.

Dyna

This is Smokey she was a runt wild kitty who was starving, we had to trap her and do all of the rescue stuff, shots, ear cut and such. We have a heated bed for her on the back porch, after years she now will step into the house until I get her food and she will ask to be scratched is I sit outside. If I stand she runs still. She was clearly traumatized and is very scared but she has a lot of safe room to roam here and is very happy.

I have not wanted to put her through adjusting by getting another she is really afraid of other cats for good reason, she is still very small and they usually attack her!

Wow! thanks for sharing Dyna!

What a great story!

Sis has a kitty right now that could be her twin sister they look so much alike! Her name is Luna, I'll see if I can get some pics.

She was most certainly very lucky to find YOU!   8)

That is awesome Ellirium!

I find it is also a comfort when they pass before us, to remember that they could not have possibly had a better life than the one they had with us.  :D

Yep, I am finding out that many of us, including myself, are having to resist the temptation right now due to considerations of their best interest that indicate that the time is not quite right yet to take someone in right now.
