I don't recall any Street Lights Robo,  at the so called Famous what was classed as the BLACK mail Box...which was actually White Colored  when I visited. !  I believe in its history that it was originally Black and later painted White..  and that on a few occasions that it got stolen...and that presently it is no longer there.. as it was relatively recently was taken down by the Rancher who owned it.

I don't think that I can recall seeing any sort of Street Lighting when I last visited maybe back in 2011 on the 375 Highway between Alamo and Rachel which are the nearest towns..

I also once traveled and made my first ever visit all the way from the North  Tonapah end and if I recall there was very few street Lights if any after leaving Tonapah and when you enter the 375 HW all the way from the North end to Rachel.

in the movie paul,they go to msil box.i never knew there was a street light there.

zorgons snow photo shows a pole and light.the white mail box had red tape verticle on it for years and in paul it looks like a perfect replica or the real thing.with a street lamp above it.i suspect the farmer gave up guarding it because of the movie.just too many fans.i dont know if yall have seen paul but its a great movie of british guys hitting the ufo hotspots after leaving comiccon.im sure theres lots of tourist doing this now.they also stopped by the star trek site where kirk fought the lizard guy with the big rock.

I have seen you post that Winter Photo a few times, but did not realise you had visited in the Snow in winter !  must have been a bit  ...

I assume that was the main gate of Groom Lake Rd... but that only leads to the signs.. not an actual gate /Main entrance..

GLR seemed to be quite a wide but rough surfaced road..that kicks up lots of dust as you travel down it that can be seen for miles..and alerts the Camo's that someone is driving down it..

unless your saying its been resurfaced in the recent last 5 years..

If I recall there are at least two main Gates on the Rachel Side that you can get right upto..One on the main Road close to Rachel and another further North West of Rachel...probably very few ever visit..

Well I have been to the front gate once  in winter   Sign says no photography allowed Road has a new surface 

If you try to get to the main Gate on the GLR entrance .. you would need to pass the signs and area where the Camo dudes are watching in their Vehicle on the hill.. and you would probably get arrested ..

but as I said prior you can visit the Main entrances at the Rachel side. one maybe being in the photo you posted..

Well that is my point Very very few have ever gone past those signs to the actual gate. If your gonna be an adrenalin junkie and want a good story  at LEAST make a run for the gate

Well if its not the Moon... It would seem a surprise if its some sort of flying craft / object..

Not sure what time of day it was taken..but the time of year was in May.. but Id guess later in the afternoon... sometimes you can see the moon in the day and it would had moved around from the East if it rises in the east by later in the day time..Maybe depending what area the video was taken ..you could work out the direction they are facing.

The cast shadows should help.. the Sun is behind or to the side of  the way they are facing..maybe from more the West which may suggest it is later in the day and they maybe facing South East where the Moon rose from.......If it was in the Morning... the Sun could be in the South east direction...if its from the Rachel side... that is more North of Area 51... maybe they are looking more towards the East..

Generally however  later in the day the Moon would have moved around more westerly if it rose early in the day. but it may rise at differing times...from the east..maybe later in the day..

I just looked outside at the moon tonight and it is actually very high up towards the South West...but much higher up than I usually see it I think..

As that is the only entrance with the "Use of Deadly Force signs"...

they could have cameras in the hills with a automated unmanned Sniper like gun in those Hills... if it was really such a sensitive area.. but you would expect them to have had a proper gate to stop anyone if its so important..

No doubt ...if a large party arrived .. it could easily be penetrated.. there may only be a few camos around... but I would think they would call for an Helicopter if security was threatened..

there may only be the track that anyone could travel down other than trying to hide on the mountain sides...so I don't think it would be easy to just disappear and hide in that particular area.. and most would want to get to the main entrance where there maybe many more Camo Dudes or Soldiers..

Yup that's what I am talking about  Pretty small to be the moon. So what direction are they looking? Moon rises in the east and is usually a LOT bigger than that "UFO"


There are no snipers   Why bother? before you can actually get past the gates they would have nailed your ass and called the Sheriff...

There is no gain to shooting people crossing a line that is only the first 'border'

besides what would happen if 50 or more people took a bus and just drove up to the gate?

Yes I have seen parts of the Movie "Paul"... but maybe not took close notice of it..

I think maybe they did visit the Area at the mailbox..and Rachel.
but some parts I don't think were filmed around the area..(which were made out to be)

There may have been a telegraph Pole close to the Mail Box !

for the movie.. they may have created a Lamppost at the actual site when the real mail box was still there.... or they may have just done some clever make belief !..

I will have to try to watch it again  to try to conclude but I can see your images of it...

I think the Rancher was called Steve  Medlin...

I was trying to find a suitable image of the mail box from further away to try to see what is around it... Looking so far .. I cannot see any Lampposts or telegraph poles... only Large Rocks nearby it....

Yes it maybe the in recent times the Movie "Paul" may well give the overall more modern public that perception as to what it may look like..

As in my prior post.. I tried to find a suitable further away image to
see some of the surrounding area to see if there are any sort of posts around.. this is one view that may give a better idea what it was like..

I will say on my 1st ever trip I had traveled from Death Valley to Tonapah  (North of Area 51)...and intended to come back to Vegas via the 375 HW to have a quick look at what Rachel and Area 51 looked like..which I think may had been in October.. on approaching the mountains after visiting Rachel at about at about 6 am in the morning arriving to initially see it in the dark..I was on a very quick fly by visit just to have a quick look at it.. (as I was on the way back to Vegas that day to get my flight home) ... When I left Rachel just after sunrise..and was heading towards the mountains you see in the picture as you come over the hill from Rachel.... the Sun had not long risen and the sunlight was hitting the back of those mountains... and the light was incredible....and the clarity of the light and shadow cast on the mountains was absolutely amazing...never seen anything quite like it..... It was what I would describe as Dreamland..

This was the sort of view of it that I could see but with the Sun at the left to the picture sort of behind the mountains...that created a long shadow cast on the mountains..that made various individual mountains stand out more from the shafts of sunlight behind them. It was very unusual to see and you could also see down the right side down tikaboo valley...to the right side of the road..
As you approached closer to the mountains  say over 5 to 10 minutes or more driving...you could see things in more detail....





one of the most amazing views and moments that I can recall..

and I have never seen any photos taken that was similar to what I saw that morning...to compare...

Back in the day when S4 was still active at Area 51 the mailbox was black and there was no light pole.

I have never seen an actual photo from the location with a light pole. But that's hollywood for ya.


I revisited mailbox road circa 2006 and the mailbox was now white, still no light pole.
