I probably should not dignify this by devoting a thread to it; but I've realised that I have reached the limit of my tolerance, where these videos are concerned.
They are self-righteous, melodramatic, and never lead to the accomplishment of anything. The Million Man March was promised; nothing happened. Project Mayhem was promised before that; nothing happened.
As someone in the comments said, the time has come for the new, Leftist, post-Occupy Anonymous to either put up or shut up. If they do not do so, these videos are going to lose all credibility; assuming that they have not already.
But yet you thought it was important enough to share with us all.
Petrus, do you need a vacation? You get any more down in the dumps there going to be pulling you out all ragged and wore.
I would like to see the real petrus step forward again. If the world is getting to you, take a break. Cut the cord for a week(s) and go read a good book. Come back with a fresh mind. Dude, your writing has dropped far below the fantastic vocabulary of text we count on reading from you. Just turn it off till your you again. We miss that person..

I listened and did not get the same impression as You did. It seems whoever created that really does want a solution and is trying to bring about some kind of corrective change.
I added My work to the comments.
If you want to offer a radical alternative to the current regimen then hiding behind a mask is pretty unlikely to get you widespread public support. You have to stand up and be counted.
The people who make these "anonymous" videos could be anyone...

I'm truthfully not sure what happened myself. I've definitely noticed that my vocabulary has lessened, and my temper is chronic. I only started using Reddit within the last month or so, and I've noticed that that has had an extremely negative effect on my personality. I'm addicted to it at this point, though; it's hard to step away.

Just took a look at Reddit for the very fist time.
It has AVOID written all over it - you'll turn your brain to mush :P
Come back to the light ;D
Reddit has some gems amidst the gravel, there's some good science party, the photography, topic specific groups, but it is primarily young liberal males of limited life experience. Stay out of their politics and the rest of the site is decent.

I think you're probably right. The single main problem I've been having, is just the absolute level of despair that I've been feeling about the state of the world recently. Reddit has really been feeding that, but it's not the whole problem.
I somehow desperately need to avoid exposing myself to three topics in particular, as they tend to really send me into a state of negative instability.
a} The ongoing fascist degeneration of America.
b} The potentially ongoing Islamic conquest and subjugation of the planet.
c} Transhumanism, or the movement towards a society where we have invasive cybernetics; prosthetic limbs, etc.

They tend towards a fairly high degree of sexual degeneracy as well, from what I've seen; and they are very fiercely opposed to anyone who would dare criticise them for such.

Yep. Young males. History of humanity.
Also, I apologise for referring to the video in the OP as sanctimonious and pointless; I know that the authors of the video probably meant well.
I'm just...frustrated. No doubt the author of said video is as well. I wish I could do more. That's really what I'm angry and unhappy about. I feel as though a lot about the world that I used to consider valuable, is being destroyed; and I don't know how I can prevent that from happening.

I hear you. I feel helpless sometimes too.
The only way to really not feel helpless - apart from getting stoned/drunk and burying your head in the sand - is to do something about it. But what can we do?
My opinion, for what it is worth, is that the only realistic solution to this predicament is to build a credible, democratic, law abiding (where possible) alternative to the system and people who run it. I am considering doing this but it would require a massive group effort and potential spokespersons (I include myself here) would be massive targets.
Anyway, I'm trying to trigger a debate about a few of these issues and I'd like to include as many members as I can,

Yeah, so? What if the point is NOT WHO is saying what, but the IDEAS? Why does it matter who the Individual is who is offering them? In fact, that is precisely why I used the mask in My piece.

Yep. Anyone offering themselves as part of an alternative political structure, is automatically volunteering for assassination. I hate to sound cynical, but that is the reality.
The government now has a militarised police force with the mentality of Judge Dredd. As far as the cops are concerned, they say jump, and civilians say how high; and unlike the military, the police also apparently have absolutely no conscience with regards to brutalising civilians whatsoever. I have never seen even a hint of resistance to the government from the police, other than what Zorgon is quoting here. Oath Keepers are military.
While i think the idea of Anon is a good one, 'we are legion, we do not forget' etc etc in practise it's as has been said here, not to be trusted.

I don't want People to say, "Her front tooth is crooked! She must be disgruntled poor! Her ideas are therefore worthless!"
That is why you hire a Hollywood Actor to spread your message :D
Yes it IS important WHO is saying it... and HOW it is said...
Anonymous is not being taken seriously because they don't have a serious agenda. Attaching your message to a sinking ship won't help your cause.
I once thought anonymous might be something that started something useful... but when they hacked my accounts and posted my personal info on public Anon websites... they made the top of my black list. Even the government spooks don't stoop that low.
There was a point where I considered banning anyone that brought them up. :P

The problem with Anon is that they have no organized message... they admit as much, in fact they say that is the whole point.
But you cannot fix a problem by random chaos, all you do is confuse the issue and make it worse. How can someone support your message or idea, if there is no clear message?
Million man March didn't happen because they were not all on the same page but the bikers that drove to Washington... they showed it can be done..

Right Z, i read you ;)
All those truckers need to do is block all roads to DC & the Pentagon :P
That will cause more problems than all those hackers..but at least it will keep your gubmint bottled up in one place, where they can do no more harm :)
If Anon wanted to do something useful, they should cut all the phone & internet lines there at the same time, LOL but most of them are bored teenagers, they don't give a damn about us old folks :D

I don't mean people should never put thoughts out there without being public figureheads - I do it on here every day. :P
What I mean is that ultimately a movement that will sort out this mess needs to be open, public, democratic, try to use whatever means it has to (preferable legal but there are exceptions) and be CREDIBLE. It is not CREDIBLE to have an idea but nobody know who the movement are. Visibility is absolutely essential to be credible and get popular support.
I also agree with Zorgon that a movement has to be organised. You can't just say something then hide. To make changes you have to have power.
The other way to make changes is to be in a position to take power if those in power do not give you what you want. Funnily enough, at that point they always give in. FACT.

First, just because They call Themselves "Anonymous" does NOT mean They represent the wider goals and precepts, nor that They are anywhere near a majority. In fact, it could have been a single chickensh1t hiding behind the Anon name.
Second, the overall sentiments of anti-system are not "sinking."

For the purposes of spreading the basics, the Anon position seemed best to least distract from the message. Meanwhile, I have a fair following on Twitter, and They know I made the piece. When asked to come forth, I surely will.
And I give Them the links to the details here.

idea, are more influential.

end of the Fed, the end to bankers rule ....etc.
This all reminds me of a stage show.
How to stop the shutdown. Get a politician with backbone to tell the banks to f-uck off. You aint getting any of the debt back.

That is very kind of you, Beth, and I appreciate it. I haven't actually bought MoP, however, and I would still need to download it; so joining immediately isn't an option. I will keep this in mind, however; I will have to see whether or not I can afford MoP, because with the price of the expansion, and a sub, it will be nearly $100.
But we will see. :)

you don't need mop, although it helps. (complicates monk class usage - i don't think you can make a monk till you have mop, if i remember correctly) but if you consider 85 levels of the game are still available to play and all the various achievements, well you could be busy for a very long time and not do all 85 levels of it. lol
