Italy's Matteo Salvini has order the deportation of 1500 migrants and bulldozed a refugee camp Italy's populist leader, Matteo Salvini, has recently continued his hardline approach to unwanted migrants in his country by deporting over 1,500 from a refugee camp in Reggio before bulldozing the site.Earlier in the week, Italian police removed around 1,592 migrants from the camp before flattening the shanty town where they were living.The refugees who occupied the camp have continually evoked the ire of Italian citizens across the nation.

The government eventually intervened following a series of recent incidents, including three deaths."They preferred to stay in the shanty towns, just abuse, and illegality," Minister of the Interior said, explaining that the government had attempted to offer other housing to the migrants, which was refused.

Nationalist Salvini said the elimination of the migrant camp "finally erased one of the most shameful slums in Italy, where degradation, lawlessness, and exploitation proliferated."

According to Breitbart, approximately 1,592 migrants have been removed from a shanty town migrant camp in southern Italy as part of the populist government's policy to dismantle squatter camps across the country.

The shanty town, formerly located in the southern Italian city of Reggio in Calabria, was bulldozed this week by police following a series of problems stemming from the makeshift camp in recent months, Italian newspaper Il Giornale reports.

Safety concerns at the camp have been a major issue, with fires breaking out over the last few months that have led to three deaths.The most recent being a 29-year-old Senegalese man who died last month.In the aftermath of the death of the Senegalese man, populist Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Matteo Salvini said the government had offered up 133 places in migrant homes but only eight migrants accepted the offer."They preferred to stay in the shanty towns, just abuse, and illegality," he explained.

Salvini himself said that he was happy about the clearing of the camp, saying the migrant camps was a place "where degradation, lawlessness, and exploitation proliferated.""After years of talk, now the facts have come I thank those who helped achieve this result, starting with the prefect," he added.The removal of squatter camps was one of the main pillars in the recently passed migration and security decree drafted by Salvini in 2018.In Italy, Salvini has become synonymous with the "ruspa" or bulldozer after promising to clean up the country.

It's hard to dispute Philippe Lamberts, the Belgian floor leader of the Greens group in the European Parliament, who said EU leaders had effectively buried the right to asylum in Europe.

"From now on, it will be virtually impossible to submit an asylum request on European soil," Lamberts said of the summit outcome. "Far from blocking the road to the extreme right, as some still try to pretend, the heads of state and government have adopted its program."

The message is glaring from Sweden's election result. There is one dominant issue in Europe's politics at present, and it is immigration. It rules in Italy and Germany. It rules in Hungary and Austria. It rules from Serbia to Scandinavia. It dominates every meeting of the leaders of the EU. It obsesses the United Kingdom, except there it cloaks itself in the euphemism of "reaching trade agreements with the rest of the world".

Europe's swing to the far right – or rather a surge in emotional xenophobia – was inevitable from the moment the European Union raced towards a single market in the 1980s, including an open market in people across the continent. Of the four freedoms of movement – in goods, services, capital and people – the first to fail was always going to be people.

An open border and the Schengen agreement on passport-free travel came in before the mass movement of low-cost labour from eastern Europe, and before the youth migration from Asia and Africa. Since geography renders Europe's southern border porous, there is no way Europe's governments, democratic or autocratic, will any longer tolerate unrestricted borders within the EU.

Spain, known for having one of the most tolerant immigration policies in Europe and accepting boatloads of migrants when no other EU nation would, was expected to open its doors even wider under its new socialist government. But that policy now appears to be going in reverse.

In a country that has shunned anti-immigration currents prevalent in much of Europe, the mass expulsion of 166 Sub-Saharan Africans who forced their way through barbed wire fences last month and attacked guards along the Spanish north African enclave of Ceuta's border with Morocco, has become an embarrassment for Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, officials and analysts say.

"Humanitarianism is not permissiveness" said Spanish interior minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska before a parliamentary hearing on Wednesday ."Orderly, secure and legal immigration is possible, but not violent migration that threatens our country and its security forces."

More than 600 migrants stormed across six-meter-high fences onto Spanish territory on July 26, hurling acid and feces, and firing home made flame throwers at border guards.Several members of Spain's Civil Guard police force were seriously injured in the struggle, triggering calls from their top commanders for an immediate crackdown.

Spain has generally enforced a policy granting asylum to migrants who reach Spanish soil by sea or through land borders around Ceuta and Melilla, enclaves that are surrounded by Morocco.

Now the pendulum is beginning to swing the other way with the above reports, but I have to ponder if the damage already caused is irreversible, and just how far it will go, how long before reports of more violent situations arise...

We've already had this discussion before about how the massive influx of young and mostly LAZY young primarily muslim males was causing total mayhem and chaos in most of the EU...

I don't want to be hateful towards Muslims at this point.  I simply remember the last New Year's Eve celebration I went to in Melbourne, in 2000.  There were people sitting in the middle of the road on the Yarra bridge at midnight, which was something that could ordinarily never happen at any other time of the year.  There were tens of thousands of people in a space of less than two kilometers, and it was completely peaceful; even joyful.

I do not associate that kind of universal peace with Islam.  I see Islam as being associated with the opposite.  I know that what happened during that New Year's Eve could never happen again now, and Muslims are very largely responsible for that.  I have always believed that if Islam had never existed, the world would be an immeasurably safer, more peaceful, and generally better place.

People that entered European countries as refugees have to go through a lengthy process before they are inserted in the community, and during that period they cannot get a job, so seeing large groups of men doing nothing doesn't automatically mean they are not working because they do not want to.

While European Union countries are closing their doors to migrants trying to flee war and persecution, one country is doing the exact opposite. Portugal has vowed to welcome thousands of refugees and other immigrants in the coming years, in a bid to combat a declining population.

"We need more immigration and we won't tolerate any xenophobic rhetoric," Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Costa recently said at a Socialist Party gathering.

Costa's statement stands in stark contrast to Italy, whose Interior Minister Matteo Salvini just last weekend called for a pan-European alliance to curb "mass immigration."

It should not be considered excessive sympathy for Islam, to observe that the American military's own lack of restraint is primarily responsible for the current migration crisis.  American military actions, beginning in 1990 with Desert Storm, have either destroyed or destabilised the governments of numerous countries with Islamic majorities, and have ended the period of relative Muslim dormancy which began with the fall of the Ottoman Empire at the beginning of the First World War.

The two Bush presidents broke open the Islamic hornets' nest.  There might have been some terrorist incidents before that, but the Islamic population didn't have the sort of drive for universal expansion before that, which they do now.  We can blame the Muslims for what they are doing now, but I am not inclined to blame them for the series of actions which initially antagonised them, and provoked them into action.

Islam, as with early Christianity, has primarily thrived among illiterate, agriculturally oriented populations, usually with a barely post-Stone Age level of technology.  If you carpet bomb the land which such people farm, then you completely destroy any ability that they may have previously had to feed themselves; they have nothing to fall back on, because they do not have the necessary education.  America's wars have artificially induced an equivalent of the Bronze Age collapse, and the current Islamic migrants can be directly compared with the Hyksos ("sea peoples") who terrorised the Mediterranean coast during that period. 

Their migration has the same cause.  They no longer have their farmland, so they have abandoned their own territories in order to try and find other sources of food.
