I added the group on Facebook out of sheer curiosity about a week or so ago and honestly it seems like a large majority of these people know its a joke, its the lesser intelligent quotient of people that concern me. here is my real question, do you really think that the US government would actually attack the [now] 2.4 MILLION attendees if everyone listed as "going" actually attended? that would start another world war and i doubt it would end well for our government. hopefully the people who think they can get away with this will heed the warnings and not go.
Greetings, Allred605, and welcome to Pegasus  8)

I haven't been to FB of late, try to avoid it as much as possible, but anything from there does not surprise me in the least. I do think that most people are intelligent enough to avoid this mess, but there will be a percentage that will be bound and determined to invade Area 51, come hell or high water...

Considering the target date for this "event" is still 64 days away, Let us hope it dies out and fades away, but in any case, there will be plenty of time for the govt/military to make plans and put extra security in place, just in case  8)

Either way it has the potential to end badly if things go wrong, but I would also surmise that, in 64 days' time, that there may not be anything that could be seen left at the site; the vast majority is underground to begin with and can be locked down tight.

Meet the guy behind the 'Area 51' page. He's terrified of what he's created
By Ryan Prior, CNN  7 hrs ago

It's all fun and games until you accidentally incite a giant mob to raid a top-secret military base.

The internet has been buzzing with excitement about a Facebook event entitled, "Storm Area 51, They Can't Stop All of Us," with 1.6 million people having clicked "Going" and another 1.2 million have indicating they're "Interested" on the event page.

Hitherto cloaked in mystery, the man behind the legend has stepped forward.

On June 27, Matty Roberts, who lives in California, created the Facebook page as a joke, not realizing that millions would rally behind his battle cry to "see them aliens" at the Air Force facility in Nevada.

Most, but not all, knew the desert congregation scheduled for September 20 was in jest, as the page included instructions such as "If we naruto run, we can move faster than their bullets. Let's see them aliens." (For the uninitiated, "naruto run" is a reference to a type of running in a popular anime show.)

The creator is afraid the FBI may knock on his door
"I waited for like three days and there were like 40 people and then it just completely took off out of nowhere," he told CNN affiliate KLAS-TV in Las Vegas. "It was pretty wild."

Roberts told KLAS he'd declined interviews as interest was skyrocketing because he thought if he revealed his identity he might have FBI agents showing up at his door.

"I was just like, the FBI's going to show up at my house and it got a little spooky from there," he said.

Roberts said he came up with the idea for the meme page after podcaster Joe Rogan interviewed Area 51 whistleblower Bob Lazar and filmmaker Jeremy Corbell. Lazar claims that he worked with an alien spacecraft while he was employed in one of Area 51's underground facilities.

Before coming out to KLAS, Roberts communicated with NPR via Facebook messenger under the pseudonym Val.

"I just thought it would be a funny idea for the meme page," he wrote.

Roberts/Val also said that, although he doubted he'd have an actual army gathered to run into Area 51 this September, he'd been in touch "with some pretty great people" to plan a safer, yet still out-of-this-world desert event.

For its part, the Air Force told the Washington Post that Area 51 is an "open training range for the U.S. Air Force, and we would discourage anyone from trying to come into the area where we train American armed forces."

CNN has also reached out to Roberts to talk more about his online sensation and how he might wield his newfound following. We'll let you know when we make first contact.

As soon as those 'participants' find out that their cell phones, GPS, CB radios, tablets, etc. do not operate as expected [read: BLOCKED] and the LRAD powers up and sends a couple non-lethal bursts downrange engaging them invaders, those snowflakes will scatter like cockroaches under a bright light.

Of course, IF they're allowed anywhere near any type of road.

Ya think???   ;D

I have posed the question to a few active duty contacts as to their thoughts on the matter, so will see what comes from my query...

'Storm Area 51' Founder Pulls Out Of 'Alien Stock,' Fears Another Fyre Festival
Matty Roberts says he's no longer participating in the possible music festival, citing "poor planning," among other things.

By David Moye

Talk about alienation of affection: The organizer of a raid on Area 51 planned for later this month now says he is pulling out of a music festival associated with the event.

In July, Matty Roberts semi-jokingly proposed a storming of the gates at Area 51, the Nevada military facility that supposedly contains the secrets to extraterrestrial visits to Earth.
After some 2 million people signed up for the event ― now known as "Storm Area 51, They Can't Stop All Of Us" ― Roberts and others decided to put together a music festival in nearby Rachel, Nevada, population 54. It would be called, appropriately enough, "Alien Stock," according to Las Vegas TV station KSNV TV.

Roberts hoped Alien Stock would turn his jokey and potentially dangerous idea of raiding a military facility into something positive. But the festival received UFOs ― unusually fiery objections ― from residents of Rachel, who feared the town wouldn't be able to handle hordes of alien seekers.

On Monday, Roberts said he is pulling out of Alien Stock, citing a "lack of infrastructure, poor planning, risk management and blatant disregard for the safety of the expected 10,000+ AlienStock attendees."

In a statement given to KSHV, Roberts said Connie West, the owner of the festival permit, refused to provide him and his partners with "the proof that things expected at this festival were in place. In fact, she refused to provide to us, as agreed upon, contracts, proof of deposits or any paper proof of anything."

Roberts said Alien Stock is moving to a safe, clean, secure area in downtown Las Vegas because he foresees "a possible humanitarian disaster in the works."

He said he is not interested in creating "a FyreFest 2.0," a reference to the much-maligned 2017 music festival that left attendees stranded and provided enough heinous and hilarious material for a documentary on Hulu and another one on Netflix.

HuffPost reached out to West at her business, the E.T.-themed Little A'Le'Inn hotel, but she did not immediately respond. The person who answered the phone said Alien Stock is going ahead even without Roberts.

West told Las Vegas station KVVU she will "do [the festival] the way I know how and what I've been planning for because I know no other way to do it. But it's still happening."

"I'm sad and I'm brokenhearted, but at the same time, it is what it is," she went on. "If he chooses to go somewhere else, that's his choice. I'm still having a party because people are still coming to Rachel."

Meanwhile, a post on the town page for Rachel also mentions Fyre Festival and says it's probably for the best if Alien Stock doesn't end up happening.

The website also not-so-subtly suggests that visitors avoid their fair town:

If any event still happens it is going to be a pretty sad affair with no bands, very little infrastructure and a lot of unhappy campers. Instead of coming out to Rachel to storm Area 51 why not enjoy the party at one of the Area 51 Events in Las Vegas?

The "Storm Area 51" event had been planned for Sept. 20. Roberts did not immediately respond to a question from HuffPost about whether the actual raid is still happening.
