Translation: Office files - it depends, Photoshop files - not really, Acrobat files - yes. ;D
The solution is to save as generic formats like jpg whatever prog you use you use.  We should never be tied to one companies own file type IMO.

If you go the way I have there is no problem.  I just use open source software so no dodgy formats.

Try that with an image made from several layers, including text layers, and embedded colour profiles. GIMP is supposed to open PSD images, but it only "understands" part of the information, so I cannot consider it compatible with Photoshop.

I always try to use open source programs whenever I can, but many times it's not possible to do it and keep on working as before.

jpg is compressed and has data loss... While some modern printshops do use a hi res jpg fprmat, most printing still requires a CMYK format like tiff or equivalent. Jpg is RGB. I ususally use .png... no loss but file size is large

Ensure you can install as many of the OEM Dell drivers as you need BEFORE updating to SP2 or 3 to ensure that these are known to windows before it tries and configures itself around a generic failsafe mode because it can't ID your hardware.  ;)

I have tried all ways around this, it doesn't do anything, updating drivers are useless, they are working properly and cannot find a better match , or so it states.

I have had it with this thing, even Recovery CD-ROM is a fluke, can't pull DOS from Reboot and can't do it through RUN , what else can I do? Nothing, I fear.

I have installed all components as suggested, reinstalled with update for drivers. It was all for not. Nothing has changed.

One thing I may add, I can cut in paste with in my home screen area, but once I access the internet, it no longer works and no longer can run right click operations via mouse, this is not an issue of the Control Panel, because there are no internet options available there, just as my whole format has changed for the Internet Explorer Icon, I can't even cut from Home area and paste with in IE so, may have to go to the Doctor after all.

Frustrating to say the Least...... >:(

ETA: PS/2 Was already preselected for Power Management, so, it wasn't that either. :(

I used to use png if I was wanting to keep all the data for similar reasons.  I rarely do much with images apart from cut one to fit or maybe a little tweak that I hardly notice not having Photoshop.  I agree it is better for some tasks than GIMP

Do you have an alternative browser installed?  Does it still not work with Opera, Chrome or Firefox?  Install one and try it.

Sounds like you will have to back up your data and wipe the hard drive.  Let someone take a look first if you don't want to have to re-install the whole system.

All the items on that list are accounted for and 80% of them are the protection programs that run in background

Have you tried using the keyboard commands to cut and paste?

If not you can simply email me the log file

No Keyboard abilities with mouse functions, can't put attachments with in Emails, can't do anything if it involves the internet, but can cut & paste away with in Word or Home page programs, works fine there. Can't even erase my PM's here with in the PRC area, just doesn't work any more.
Have no idea what is going on.  >:(

I don't understand, does Ctrl + C and Ctrl + V work, doing a copy and a paste, respectively?
