Curiosity took scoops of soil and the scientist have an announcement but they are mum for now!

'Grotzinger says they recently put a soil sample in SAM, and the analysis shows something earthshaking. "This data is gonna be one for the history books. It's looking really good," he says.'

'So why doesn't Grotzinger want to share his exciting news? The main reason is caution. Grotzinger and his team were almost stung once before. When SAM analyzed an air sample, it looked like there was methane in it, and at least here on Earth, some methane comes from living organisms.

But Grotzinger says they held up announcing the finding because they wanted to be sure they were measuring Martian air, and not air brought along from the rover's launchpad at Cape Canaveral.

"We knew from the very beginning that we had this risk of having brought air from Florida. And we needed to diminish it and then make the measurement again," he says. And when they made the measurement again, the signs of methane disappeared.'

Only time will tell, but in IMO, if Rover Curiosity is actually on Mars, we should be expecting many "findings" to be "announced" for the duration of the Rover's "search". This location was "picked for reason", and that "reason" should be revealed in the "findings" to come.

As I have said before, it will be interesting to see what the real reasons are, for having sent a rover to Gale Crater.

There have been a multitude (a LOT) of Mars Orbiter images taken of this crater and crater area, with the various different cameras. NASA should already have a pretty good idea for what this crater hholds for Curiosity to "find"!!

It is frustrating isnt zorg, I suppose we shouldnt expect anything less, a big shock if they do get in front of cameras and come out with a big something.
I know that I know nothing - thanks Capricorn.

Florida air staying trapped all the way to Mars in the vacuum of space, yet it escapes and gets into the sensors on Mars... and besides they already found Methane last time I have the paper :D

And yeah  be sure first  like the Arsenic based life form they thought they found in Mono Lake that was an error :P

I think the NASA, is the American version of the English show "The Muppets"...   :D

The Muppet show had "Pigs in Space".

Enjoy...   ;D

And now the end of the Universe and the meaning of life !

Enjoy...   ;D

The NASA Show, has "Monkeys in Space".   :D

Hey don't throw those Rotten eggs and tomatoes at me, I'm just the stage manager...   :D

Back again...

Enjoy...   ;D

guess what?!!! WE HAVE A SUPER STUPENDOUS DISCOVERY TO ANNOUNCE IN ONE MONTH!! STAY TUNED!!

*one month goes by*

the spokesman steps up to the microphone and says...
"mars has water."
people who follow mars data all roll their eyes because it has been known ever since the polar caps were discovered, that there is water on mars.

6 months go by.

guess what??!! WE HAVE A SUPER MAGNIFICIENT FIND OF AMAZING PORTENT TO REVEAL IN 3 MONTHS!!!! STAY TUNED.

*three months go by*

the spokesman steps up to the mic and says...
"There are rocks on mars."
people who have been studying mars data for years now, just turn off the show.

As I have mentioned before, some of the Staff at the NASA, are rolling around the floor, laughing and wetting themselves over ALL us, so called unintelligent public...   ;D

But TIME exposes the Truth !

The NASA can't keep up the B.S. forever.

It's only a matter of TIME !

lol i guess i was exaggerating a bit.  but doesn't it seem like that sometimes?  the rover has been on there long enough to tell us pretty much everything we would want to know about the composition of a huge surface, what types of rocks,  what the bacterial (if any) composition is, water percentages, fossilization (if any), but instead they verify things they already knew about and mentioned 10 years ago.

it's like.......uh, this is not amazing. this is just you verifying your own data.  let us know when  you find something that you haven't already claimed existed there in the first place.

the really frustrating part is when it's a repeat of a repeat, as if the first time and second time were not enough.
