Wow. Gold to Elvis for some cool input that didn't involve sausages or chickens, and also gold to Sander for that great pic.
Deuem has enough gold already LOL
It seems (to me) from both processes that there is a very intense field around those ships.

This is what makes Pegasus so special, we take the available data & we do something with it. We dissect the info, we discuss it.
OK so we may not always agree on the results, but results are there nonetheless, proud of you guys (and gals) ;D

The result is a formation of UFO which now appear to have the same shape.

Indeed they do!

They also appear to be all tilted at the same angle.

And a strong energy field surrounding all as well.

Great work!  8)

You certainly have your chops down Sander!

Your work displayed on peggy so far is amazing.

Another witness, from Kevin Randle -

"While sitting at my table in the International UFO Museum and Research Center in Roswell, I heard a woman behind me say, "That was my father." She was pointing to a picture of one of the soldiers assigned to the base in 1947.

I listened to her for a moment and then stood up to learn who she was and what she had been told.

Her name was Carlene Green (seen here pointing to her father's picture) who was the daughter of Sergeant Homer G. Rowlette, a member of the 603rd Air Engineering Squadron.

And as established by the Yearbook produced by Walter Haut in 1947, he was clearly in Roswell at the right time.

According to what she said, she learned of her father's part in the crash retrieval just days before he died.

He was on a Gurney and about to be wheeled into an operating room when he asked her to come closer so that he could speak to her.

He told her that he had been at the base when the "spaceship" crashed and that he had seen it.

He said that the craft was rounded and that he had seen three "little people," and suggested that one of them had survived the crash.

He apologized for not telling her sooner but that he had told her brother the story sometime earlier.

Finally he cautioned her to keep it all to herself, or else."

Oh and they did this every day in 1947 across every state in the nation?

I want to know what would motivate Aliens to suddenly make mass appearances in 1947.

or

B) General: "I don't care WHAT it takes... BRING ONE OF THOSE THINGS DOWN... NOW!!!

Not really sinny, yea Hiroshima and Nagasaki were 1945, but the testing escalated all through the forties. Look at bikini atoll, the marshall islands etc. Effectively contaminating paradise.
that must have garnered attention. Don't you think?

Okay so here's my thoughts so far - if I post anything in error, all are free to correct me.

Bear in mind, I still have my own UFO's mysteries to be solved, and my motive here is just to view things objectively.

So far A51's argument for ET at Roswell consists of:

1) Testimonies and hearsay from ex miliatry men.
2) "The Saucer invasion of 1947".
3) Military and technological advances from 1947.

In defence of the Roswell ET scenario, the following have been peiced together:

After the atomic bomb of 1945, we gained the attention of an ET force that would not permit the further use of Atomic weaponry. They 'buzzed' all military and nuclear instilations across America in 1947 to make this point clear. Out technological advances came from an ET ship that we managed to 'down'. There is no other possible explanation for these craft apart from ET as, as A51 states, this technology is not humanly possible. Hence since 1947 the American military and others have been trying to cover the truth of ET visitation for the best part of 70 years.

Have I missed anything??

My counter argument:

If Aliens were that concerned about Atmoic energy, they would not have allowed the bombs to be detonated in 1945.
They would not have waited two more years before trying to intimidate us out of atomic energy.
If they were that 'advanced' they would not have 'crashed' at Roswell. I do not think the only people who could have this technology is ET. There are rumours that past Earth people have had this 'new' technology, and there are also rumours human were working on this technology in the late 18th century. At no time during this thread has Admiral Byrds Opertaion Highjump been included which also provide testimony that the Nazi's had flying saucer craft that could, quote "fly from pole to pole", unquote. I find it highly unlikely that if an Alien ship did crash at Roswell, the Air Force officers in question would have really told the media about it, and although that story was retracted, it still set the scene for one of the most prevalent myths in modern history.

My question is, apart from hearsay, has anybody got real proof of ET at Roswell?
"The very word "secrecy" is repugnant in a free and open society"- JFK

Sinny that's an interesting point about Admiral Byrd.
Operation Highjump was indeed conducted in 1946-47.
Could the expedition have opened a hornets nest down there? and could the myriad sightings be a result of just that?.
This is of course pure conjecture but the time frame is relevant.
im sure we are all aware of Byrd and his activities but here is a synopsis for anyone  unfamiliar.

Operation Highjump.
In 1947 Secretary of the Navy James Forrestal sent a naval task force
to Antarctic including Admiral Nimitz, Admiral Krusen and Admiral
Byrd, called "Operation Highjump". It was touted to be an expedition
to find "coal deposits" and other valuable resources, but in actuality
they were trying to find the underground base of the nazis (aryans) in  Neuschwabenlandt. The nazis had done a very detailed study of
Antarctic and were alleged to have built an underground base there.
In this regard however, the aryans have had an underground
habitation in Antarctic for more than a million years.

The task force of OVER 40 SHIPS, included the flagship "Mount
Olympus", the aircraft carrier "Philipine Sea", the seaplane tender
"Pine Sea", the submarine "Senate", the destroyer "Bronson", the ice
breaker "Northwind", and other tanker and supply ships. An armed
contingent of 1400 sailors, and three dog sled teams were also on
board.
The expedition was filmed by the Navy and brought to Hollywood to be made into a commercial film called "The Secret Land". It was narrated by Hollywood actor Robert Montgomery (Naval reserve Officer) .

There were three divisions of Operation High Jump: one land
group with tractors, explosives, and plenty of equipment to refurbish
"Little America", and make an airstrip to land the six R-4D's (DC-3's),
and two seaplane groups. The R4-D's were fitted with jet-assist takeoff  bottles (JATO) in order to takeoff from the short runway of the
aircraft carrier "Philipine Sea". They also were fitted with large skis for landing on the ice field prepared for them. The skis were specially
fitted at three inches above the surface of the carrier deck. When
landing on the ice at "Little America" the three inches of tire in
contact with the snow and ice provided just enough and not too much
drag for a smooth landing.

Admiral Byrd's team of six R4-D's were fitted with the super secret
"Trimetricon" spy cameras and each plane was trailing a
magnetometer. They flew over as much of the continent as they could in the short three month "summer" period, mapping and recording
magnetic data. Magnetometers show anomalies in the Earth's
magnetism, i.e. if there is a "hollow" place under the surface ice or
ground, it will show up on the meter.

On the last of many "mapping" flights where all six planes went
out, each on certain pre-ordained paths to film and "measure" with
magnetometers, Admiral Byrd's plane returned THREE HOURS LATE.

It was stated that he had "lost an engine" and had had to throw
everything overboard except the films themselves and the results of
magnetometer readings in order to maintain altitude long enough to return to Little America.
This is most certainly the time when he met with representatives of
the aryans and a contingent of nazis.

The task force came steaming back with their data which then
became classified "top secret". Secretary of the Navy James Forrestal
retired and started to "talk". He was put in Bethesda Naval Hospital
psychiatric ward where he was prevented from seeing or talking to
anyone, including his wife! after a short while he was thrown out the
window while trying to hang himself with a bedsheet. It was ruled a
suicide, case closed. He was telling people about the underground
aryan base.

Its also a lovely pretext for the 1950's 'Venusian' contact that were to me made by Adammski, Menger and Co.

Is it a coincidence these alien craft looked just like the early Nazi models? Andis it just a coincidence these people were Nordic?

Admamski, or Menger, or Both ( my memory does not serve) admitted it was a hoax connected to CIA factions?

Wasn't Van Tassle intorrogated over being a Nazi spy?

Not to mention the rest.

Sorry for the spelling.

I sorted the following sightings by similar characteristics to help clarify the picture -

May 5 1947 - Tucson, Arizona

Mrs. H.G. Olavick witnessed ten flying discs make some curious aerial maneuvers near Tucson.

One of those objects appeared larger than the other nine discs, perhaps as big as 100 feet in diameter. Viewed with her husband, they both agreed at the time that the discs must be some sort of new high performance military aircraft.

As they watched, the nine smaller craft began "playing around the cloud" in violent aerial maneuvers for about seven minutes as if making mock dogfights. Finally regrouping in a V formation behind the larger craft, they flew off with tremendous acceleration toward the northeast.

Mrs. H. W. Stockwell reported that she saw a group of seven disc-like objects in the sky over Norwood.

One of the discs was much larger than the rest and she estimated its size to be at least "a mile in diameter."

She did not mention the sighting until a week later because she said she felt "a little silly about it. Now I think that if they are dangerous, everybody should know about them."

Mrs. Amy Herdliska, reported that she had seen a group of objects twice during the late evening behaving in a most peculiar manner.

She reported to Sgt. W. K. Campbell, of the Lancaster County sheriff's substation that "over the mountains south of Palmdale, I saw what looked like a mama disc, with three to five little baby discs flying around her.

"The little ones would cavort around for awhile, then they'd fly back and seem to fly into the mama disc's pouch. Anyway, the mama disc absorbed the baby discs," she explained.

Mrs. Herdliska said that the objects "were luminescent and clearly visible," and before they had disappeared to the south over the mountains, they were seen "separating" again.

She reported that a second flight of the same puzzling objects was made again at 11:17 p.m.

Two Tacoma prowl car officers Evan Davies and Stan Johnson were parked at North 33rd and Adams Streets with their headlights and motor turned off. Davies' attention was caught by a "streak" in the sky; looking more closely, he saw a strange spectacle.

"I didn't say anything," he reported later. "Then I noticed Stan was watching it too."

"Do you see anything?" Johnson asked.

"Yeah, do you?" Davies answered cautiously.

"I thought I was crazy," Johnson remarked with relief. "I've been watching it for five minutes."

"So have I," his partner admitted.

The cause for this guarded exchange was the sight of a group of six or seven disc-like objects seen just below a bright moon in the southern sky.

One central object, larger than the others, seemed to act as a sort of "flagship." The smaller objects would make repeated movements toward the large disc and then glide away to the south.

The officers said the larger disc appeared to be "spinning like a top, and throwing off sparks like a bursting sky rocket," and then attracting the tiny objects back "like a mother hen with her chicks."

The officers estimated that the objects were at an altitude of about 10,000 feet. The smaller "and more distinct objects" began to move westward in a loose group, and vanished from view, while the large disc remained for a brief time in one spot, and then it too began to move westward.

The men decided to give chase, and Davies radioed the police dispatcher, D. F. Erickson,
"Car No. 5, Johnson and Davies to KGZN. We're chasing a flying saucer towards the Narrows Bridge site."

As they sped westward, the officers radioed their course and a running description of the phenomenon. Johnson said that although it was impossible to judge altitude, size, speed or distance accurately, the large disc appeared to move at tremendous speed and was the apparent "size of a softball." (ed: at arm's length)

One of the smaller discs was seen flying over South Tacoma; later, another was seen to the west, over Hood Canal; a third, which flew out of sight in less than a minute, appeared over Commencement Bay.

At one point, the large object made a rapid ascent of an estimated 5,000 feet above its former altitude at extremely high speed, "quicker than you could snap your fingers,"
according to Davies.

He said that the parent disc "seemed a shade of red part of the time, particularly when it zoomed upward, but most of the time it was a sort of luminous silver."
Johnson vividly recalled the way the objects jumped over considerable distances.

The officers finally lost sight of the object over the western horizon. In all, they had observed the phenomenon for a half an hour.

At the police station, officers said an unnamed caller from South Tacoma had phoned in exactly at the same time to report seeing the same spectacle, and M. C. Streans, reported he had watched the same phenomenon sometime after 2:00 a.m.

Davies said that the most striking feature of the entire sighting was the way the objects would suddenly jump from one location to another spot "miles away."

At one point they had shot up suddenly through a substantial vertical distance.  Both Davies and Johnson agreed that these objects could not have been any conventional aircraft.

There was another patrol car which had been alerted and the officers in that car had also seen the objects.

A report of an "illuminated galaxy of flying discs" seen by three members of a family during the evening was made.

The objects were seen first by Charles Crockett, 15, as he was walking toward his home on the highway between Manchester Four Corners and the Augusta Country Club.

The cluster of luminous objects was seen to the west, over the north end of Lake Cobbosseecontee. They were still there when he arrived home a few minutes later, so he summoned his mother, Mrs. Doris Crockett, and his grandmother, Mrs. Abbie Hallowell, who confirmed his observation.

Charles described what he saw as "about eight or ten smaller discs revolving around a big disc-shaped spot of light." The objects remained in view for fifteen minutes before they faded out of sight.

A many as 200 people observed a disc at Hauser Lake, Idaho, just a few miles northeast of Spokane.

George Aster described that event, stating, "I pointed it out to the others and they all stood around and followed it for about 30 minutes while it hovered (and slightly wobbled) at about ten degrees above the horizon."

The witness saw the craft while celebrating the holiday at the lake and agreed that it must have hovered at about 20,000 feet until an aircraft came into the area and all of a sudden it shot straight up into the sky and vanished in "a fraction of a second."

Others in Aster's party who said they had watched the object were his wife, Mr. and Mrs. O. N. Daerwold, and Mr. and Mrs. Noble Hunvlade.

Observers gave a host of physical descriptions ranging from a shiny aluminum disc—shaped craft to having the appearance of a silver dollar approximately 30 feet across.

USAF PROJECT BLUE BOOK FILES

Three discs in a line formation were observed flying in a northeasterly direction by State Police Sergeant Claude Cross.

Also across the Columbia River from Portland near Vancouver, Washington, Clark County Sheriffs Deputies John Sullivan, Clarence McKay, and Fred Krives reported up to 30 such flying objects.

Their sightings (which actually involved eight deputies) began after hearing reports of flying discs broadcast on the police radio.

The deputies then went outside of the sheriffs headquarters to have a look for themselves and soon caught sight of "round" objects flying over high and fast in a straight line toward the west and south.

As they passed, a low humming noise could be detected.

Witnesses told the International News Service that "they were there and no mistake about that."

They explained that the objects appeared in the southwest over the courthouse heading southwest at about 1,000 feet.

The deputies saw numerous flights of discs—the first of which had seven objects in it. The tail end of that formation split off the main line to form a separate group rising above the others. They were described as disc-shaped with speeds approximating an aircraft.

A. E. Mitchell, of Goose Creek, Texas, was visiting relatives in Twin Falls when, during a July 4th outing at Twin Falls Park, seven miles east of the city, he was one of seven persons who reported seeing a group of disc—like objects in a rough V-formation flying overhead to the west.

They were flying high and at great speed, Mitchell reported.

About ten minutes later, Mitchell and a group of others, now totaling more than twenty, saw a second flight of nine or ten objects circling overhead in a loose formation. The objects gained altitude rapidly and, when almost out of sight, were seen proceeding westward.

All the witnesses agreed that the objects were not in any well—defined formation while climbing.

At 3:10 p.m., with a sizeable crowd of now nearly sixty persons peering skywards, a third group was seen circling and climbing.

Mitchell reported that "I distinctly counted 18 before they climbed so high only two or three could be seen."

He said that these objects, too, were last, seen moving westward, putting on a burst of speed as they departed.

Puzzle Alerts Entire Nation to Scan Sky

By Associated Press
The nation's perplexity over discs reported spinning through the skies deepened Saturday in the wake of July 4 reports from virtually all parts of the country.

There was no scientific explanation offered to fit the observations which spanned the nation from the Pacific to the gulf to the Atlantic.

A mass of evidence piled up swiftly as holiday throngs and fliers joined in telling of seeing bright, pancakelike objects skimming through the air at varying estimates of altitude and speed.

Former skeptics joined the ranks of the believers as the flashing objects glittered before their eyes. Reliable observers, such as Capt. E. J. Smith of United Air Lines, his copilot Ralph Stevens, and his stewardess Marty Morrow, told of seeing the round flat objects for 12 minutes while flying west from Boise, Idaho, on Independence day evening. Ex-airmen, picnickers, motorists, and housewives swelled the number of witnesses to the strange phenomenon.

Pilot Sees Objects First

The first published report of "flying saucers" came from Kenneth Arnold, Boise, Idaho, businessman pilot, who reported at Pendleton, Or., on June 25 that he had seen nine flying at 1200 miles an hour in formation, shifting position "like the tail of a kite," over Washington state's Cascade mountains.

Before scoffers had more than begun to offer explanations such as "reflections," "persistent vision" and "snow blindness," an Oklahoma City private flier, Byron Savage, said he had seen a similarly shaped object some weeks earlier, but that fear of ridicule kept him quiet.

Then the reports began to filter in, mostly from individuals. The discs were seen in Texas, New Mexico, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Missouri, Colorado, California, Arkansas, Nebraska. The number varied from one to a dozen, seen by one or two people mostly.

Reports Come in From East

Then the July 4 deluge hit. Two hundred persons in one group and 60 in another saw them in Idaho; hundreds saw them in Oregon, Washington and other states throughout the West.

And for the first time, the Eastern states had their reports. Observers, earlier all from west of the Mississippi river, came in with reports from Michigan, Louisiana, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Indiana, Kentucky, Georgia, South Carolina, and Canada's Atlantic seaboard.

Ted Tannich and William Lemon, of Albany, Saturday saw a silvery object fly southward, halt abruptly, and then retrace its course. It was visible for possibly 15 seconds, they said.

(UP)—— The mysterious flying saucers made their appearance over Birmingham last night in a spectacular display of whirling light, according to reports of hundreds of callers who swamped the telephone lines of the Birmingham Age—Herald.

Reporters, copy readers and even copy boys were pressed into service answering calls from citizens of this town who attested to seeing the whirling disks. The majority of calls came between 8 and 9 p.m. and were from persons in various sections of town.

One of the first to call in was Gene Plumstead, program director for radio station WSGN, who said he saw several disks flying low over a suburban lake here.

Robert B. Crossland, telegraph editor of The Age—Herald, also called in and reported seeing the saucers.

Crossland said he and a group were standing in front of his apartment on Birmingham's southside when the whirling objects appeared.

He described them as looking like rafts moving very fast and in formation. One man told an AP reporter he had seen the disks weeks ago and was ashamed to tell his wife.

The Birmingham Police Department also reported a deluge of calls, as did the weather
bureau.

'Flying Disc' Reports Come From Hundreds, in 28 States

Science Fails to Give Facts
Government Men Ask to See Sample

By Associated Press

The nation was baffled Saturday by the "flying saucers" reported seen in 28 states by hundreds of persons while conjectures on their meaning flew as furiously as the reported speed of the silvery discs.

Official government sources took a "let's see one" stand on the phenomenon, and so scientists preferred a detailed explanation.

Near unanimity was recorded on some of the discs' characteristics — terrific speed, bright reflections, round or oval in shape, flat, and flying with a peculiar undulating motion. Size was moot and expressed by Captain Smith of United Air Lines as "hard to judge" without knowing the distance from the observer to the objects.

An army air forces spokesman in Washington on July 3 said there was not enough fact to "warrant further investigation," but the air materiel command at Wright field, Dayton, Ohio, said it was making a study. Saturday at Washington an army researcher admitted "we're mystified" and the navy said it had no theories.

Astronomers Doubt Meteors

Meanwhile Kenneth Arnold, the man who first reported them, could recall his insistence when his report was widely questioned, that "I don't believe it, either — but I saw it."

Two Chicago astronomers said the discs probably are "manmade." The undulating, flashing objects "couldn't be meteors," said Dr. Gerard Kluper, director of the University of Chicago's Yerkes observatory at Williams Bay, Wis.

"We realize," said Dr. Oliver Lee, director of Northwestern university's Dearborn observatory, "that the army and navy are working on all sorts of things we know nothing about."

Officials of the atomic energy commission in Washington said it had no experiments involving "flying saucers" underway, and one official added, "All we know is what we read in the papers."

An army air force official in Washington said the AAF was "completely mystified" by the saucer reports.

Hanford Role Denied

Although no general alert had been sent out for radar scanning of the heavens, he said: "Reports of the interception of any suspicious object or ground radar screens will be carefully evaluated."

Col. F. J. Clarke commanding officer of the Hanford engineering works in the Pacific coastal area, where the largest saucer influx was reported, said the saucers were not coming from the atomic plant there.

"I have been waiting for someone to tie the discs to the Hanford atomic plant," he said. But he declared that as far as he knew no experiments were under way there that would solve the mystery.

Credence in the saucers — widely laughed off at their first reported appearance June 25 — grew as hundreds of observers, many of them trained fliers, reported seeing them.

Portland Reports Fly

A crowd of 200 observed a disc at Hauser Lake, Idaho, on the Fourth of July. A group of 60 picnickers saw them at Twin Falls, Idaho.

And in Portland so many residents witnessed them that same day that the police department sent out an all cars broadcast.
The discs were seen Saturday in California, Oregon, Washington, Iowa, and South Carolina.

Two persons in different sections of Charleston, S. C. — one of them a newspaper reporter — said a flying saucer passed over Charleston heading east at 6:20 P. M. (EST) Saturday.
