China's area 51?  This could be a test area of some sort.  I see what appears to be aircraft in one picture.

It isn't obvious from your post what the relationship is between the two pictures.  If you explain I imagine you will get more comments.

I have seen the image in the first picture before and am interested in what it might be.  The only half reasonable explanation I have seen thus far is the possiblity of the site being a hand to hand combat training facility.

spacemaverick

These are designs in the desert that cannot be explained.  I feel that they are military in nature.  Here is an update as to the area.  China Area 51?

Follow the links Pimander.

You are chiding him and saying he should explain things to you that are already explained in the links he provided.

I came across this and it seems plausible.

It seems this blog has some answers.  Gizmodo.com may be looking at conspiracies here instead of the possible obvious explanations.

No chiding, just advice.  :)

A thread should not demand reading another site just to understand what it is about.

spacemaverick

Sorry about that.  Guess I don't know what I am doing.  Just hoping for some input.  Not an expert on forums.

hey space maverick..no worriess..these guys are tolerating me so i think you'll be just fine..

i was looking at these last night and on one you can get photos from the google earth site and if you blow it up enough  i could see what looks like a nuclear powerplant..and the crazy line thing...if you blow that up  i could se what to me looked like power line towers in the parts that look like dried river beds..

i saved the pic but not the link ..sorry
but on the last block you can see the water pond and come forward and go left and you can see the cone shapes of the nuclear plant..well to me that is what it looks like and that makes sense of what looks like power line towers...with the rate of growth in china i am sure they need more and more power...
but if you want a good laugh..check out the comments..one guy says the grid llooks like d.c...lol..maybe that's how they plan urban warfare....hey spooks..that was a joke   :D

now this morning before heading this way i was doing a quickie search and two links caught my eye for more info

this one seems mostly just more conjecture

At this point no one really knows for sure, but the most likely explanation is that it's a military target practice range. It is in fact only one of several similar sites in the area, and at least one of the others has airplanes sitting in the center of it. As Paul Marks of New Scientist points out, "Clearly, it is some kind of military target for airstrike or gunnery practice. Another 4 x 4 piece grid some 200 meters across has some pieces clearly blown to smithereens, again supporting the target practice theory, and a dummy runway in garish bluish-white is probably for... air-to-ground strafing practice."

Of course this explanation won't sit well with the conspiracy-minded crowd; it's much more fun to think it's Chinese equivalent of Area 51 than a boring old target range.

this one seems a bit more helpful

Mystery of unidentified Chinese desert patterns solved ... mostlySome images appear to show mining, power and military sites, while others are harder to identify. Can you work them out?

This giant blue structure is part of the world's biggest potash fertiliser plant in Lop Nur, which was written about a few years ago in the excellent farwestchina blog. The photograph for its wikipedia entry is indentical, though of course – if you want to keep the conspiracy spirit burning – that does not rule out the possibility that this huge structure conceals something more sinister. More evidently destructive, however, is what looks like an enormous mine on its south-west corner.

Most of the other images are also in or close to Lop Nur, which was China's nuclear testing ground and remains a sensitive military area. Close up, there are clear signs of debris and this image and this one suggest either a silo has exploded or the area has been used for aerial target practice.

Relatively close by, the long blue strips look like runways. Harder to explain are the giant crazy-paving patterns (see also this one). Given the fact that previous Google Earth images showed China has replicated potential war zones in the desert – presumably for training – it is understandable that netizens who have tried to map these on to the road networks of Washington DC. But their efforts are far from conclusive.

hahah..if you keep looking  there was blog discussion about this way back in 'o5..so i guess we're late to the table

and some nicely blown up shots here
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2061424/Google-Maps-satellite-spots-bizarre-structures-Chinese-desert.html

seems the map overlay is a real talking point with all of the links sites..

ok..gotta go get something done...

Here are a few different views of this mysterious area which seems to have had a massive flood.

The first photo seems to be a massive hazmat flow.

This overhead view shows the patterned area on the far left.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

This view shows what appears to be blue wrapped material, maybe part of what was flowing down in the first photo.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

This runway appears to have a huge, deep groove down the centerline.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

This shows the mud flow.

This shows the angled, grooved, concrete whatever on the far left.

This shows the weird patterned area to the west of the runway complex.

This shows an overhead view of the famous Taklimakan Desert. The Lop Nor Chinese nuclear testing area is circled in yellow. This area was the target of many SR-71 flights out of Tahkli, Thailand during the Viet Nam war. After photographing Lop Nor the SR-71 would turn right and head for Okinawa.

The little tiny circle to the right of the big Lop Nor area is the area with the weird pattern and runways apparently the victims of rain and mud flows.

Somamech

Its funny that this article has hit MSM...

Zorgon ran a thread on ATS  about this whilst he was looking for Aliens quite awhile ago (tall whites if I recall) LOL  ;D

Then we get,

Obama Bangs on about China not playing fair with money at APEC, (Kettle calling the pot Black?) and then the MSM wheel out this article which is making China look like an enemy.   I'm no fan of the regime in either country.

Coincidence or Manufactured News ???

Yes that is China's equivalent of  the "Nellis Bombing Range" If you look around the Nellis and Tonopah test ranges, you will see they cover about the same area and have equally strange objects, though the ones in China are huge

Now my OP on ATS was just about as cryptic as your :D so no worries. The idea is simply to encourage people to add a little content to an opening post. But we don't expect everyone to be thread making experts like the hard core ATS crowd ;)

Here is my OP on this area...

Odd Markings In China... Signal to passing space craft?

Odd Markings in Xinjiang (Sinkiang) Region

Somewhere deep in the Chinese Desert... there are these odd white lines painted onto the desert floor. They make no sense whatsoever. They cover  a large area and look freshly painted

Area A White Lines
40°27'02.68"N, 93°44'37.82"E

So... what do you think they are?

zorgon

Well glad you reminded me about that thread :D I had forgotten that one, so I will transfer my posts from there.

Yes as Somamech said I originally found it looking for an Ancient burial site of tall whites. Will get to that in a bit. This area also has one of China's HAARP like installations. They have more than one but I haven't found the others yet (and haven't had time to look in a while)

So here goes the posts...

OH and before yawl go screaming PHOTOSHOP... here is an older one that has mud deltas over top of it. That whole area has interesting stuff... Kinda like the Nellis Bombing Range but these patterns are weird

This one must be a target of some kind

This one has me baffled though...

Lots of these in the area...

This one looks surreal...

Lots of stuff in this area...

And this is curious

zorgon

It is really odd that all of a sudden this is coming out in Main Stream Media though. Its been on many forums for a long time...

What is REALLY weird (a a little scary) is something I watched on National Geography last night. I will make a thread on that shortly when I find the video online.

Post #4  Here is China's HAARP

QuoteOriginally posted by peacejet
My guess would be that they are starting some kind of construction work and these may be the roads or some way to a underground facility.:wow:

My pick for the underground is here...

There is also a Chinese 'HAARP' on that area, but they call it CRIRP :P

The area is huge and full of weird stuff... maybe twice the size of Nevada...

CRIRP - China Research Institute of Radiowave Propagation

I have this already posted in the HAARP library thread, but as its relevant here also I will repost it

QuoteAbstract
Ionospheric sounding has been conducted routinely for more than 60 years in China. A complete network of ground-based sounding sites covers the Chinese subcontinent, including vertical and oblique sounding, GPS measurement of ionospheric TEC and scintillation, VLF receivers measuring the lower ionosphere etc. In this paper, we give a picture of the sounding network, equipment situation and data acquired with emphasis on vertical ionosonde network

On the above link to Pegasus website is all the data I have collected so far about the Chinese HAARP program. I have info on locations but the last time I looked on GE the areas were still not clear enough to see anything. Perhaps someone can take time and hunt them down :D

I do have data on;

The Zhong Shan Station, Antarctica

Lanzhou, China
Gansu Province in northwestern China

36°02' 0.0"N, 103°48'0.0"E

Manzhouli, China
Hulunbuir Prefecture, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region

49°36' 0.0"N, 117°26'0.0"E

Sheshan, Shanghai, China
EISCAT Like Research

31°5?41.98?N, 121°11?29.72?E

That EISCAT like facility is very interesting because it is actually and old JESUIT Observatory...

Don't worry.  The thread has attracted a lot of interest so it must be a good one. ;)
