Good looking shotgun in the first pic! I am sure V.P. Joe Biden would be pleased with her selection of weapon for her protection.  ;)

Also, I appreciate her display of at least one "cross", and maybe two, around her neck!

Well, in consideration of Z's open support of a "Gun Lovers Thread" here on the forum, I thought it appropriate to change my avatar for a time, to indicate support, with Z, of our 2nd Amendment rights, as citizens of this United States of America.

While there may be differences of "opinion" regarding the subject of "guns", the 2nd Amendment of our Constitution is VERY clear, and affirmation of its statements for the right to "bear arms" has been clearly affirmed by the Supreme Court.

Nothing like a good 70lb pull Welsh Longbow

Remember the elves in Lord of the Ring?  A good bowmen can get off a lot of rounds in a few minutes.  There was a video on youtube showing what a longbow tipped with titanium points can do to Kevlar... oddly it was removed..

::)

But lets try it out on some 18 gauge steel  :D

1. The bows we are shooting are at the lower end of the poundage medieval archers would have used during the period that concerns us. The finds from the wreck of the Mary Rose prove that the medieval longbow used by the military archer, typically referred to as the Warbow, would more likely have been around 120lbs draw weight, and possibly more.

2. The heads on the arrows we are shooting have not been sharpened nor hardened, as was often the case in medieval times.

3. The carbon content of the steel we are shooting at is higher than the average medieval armour, and therefore tougher.

4. The armour of a medieval knight would have been thickest on the breastplate and the front of the helmet. To reduce weight the armour would have been thinner elsewhere. In this video we are therefore shooting directly at the areas of a knights armour that were specifically designed to resist the penetrative effects of an arrow. That they bounce off should come as no surprise, but note that every arrow penetrated up to half an inch before doing so.

No silencer required...

And fitted with a broad-head, the arrow is extremely lethal. And the compound technology has drastically increased what a human is able to do with arrows. When shooting bullets, you need for bullets to expand when it strikes the target - - a broad-head is already "expanded" when you shoot it!

Z, that is a really nice pic of your "expartner". I would guess that he was a very good friend - he just looks like he would have been a great guy to be around!
