One very astute observation which the Dalai Lama makes here, is that inequality is not only morally wrong, but is also a source of practical problems.  This is a key point which Capitalist advocates either do not understand, or do not want to.  They think that as long as they as individuals are fine, then they can preserve themselves from the sort of violence and turmoil that comes from logistical/economic exclusion, by building themselves walls and gated communities.

What they do not understand, however, is that their wealth itself ultimately comes from what they would refer to as the raw material, present within the natural world.  So if they continue to destroy the rest of the world around them, eventually it is going to have the result of destroying their own wealth as well.  Gated communities might protect them from the people who are starving now, but it will not protect them from their own starvation later.

One of the things I experienced very strongly while walking through some trees and other vegetation during my first LSD experience, was the sense that the only reason why I was alive at all, was due to an in fact very large and complex set of agreements between myself and all of the other surrounding lifeforms.  Most of the time, these agreements are unconscious for most of us; but a big part of the purpose of psychedelics, is to make knowledge and awareness of them conscious.

We need to begin to recognise that viewing ourselves as existing in a vacuum from everyone else, is going to kill us.  Community is vital for long term survival; and that is not merely some Leftist platitude, but is demonstrable reality.

i tend to agree about rich republicans in general.
i just had one buldoze five feet by three hundred feet of my property.he was looking fo the property line and had no curtisy to ask me first.he also bulldozed half my pig pen that was surrounded by brush .the brush was for shade and shelter but he thought it was just brush.its been two weeks and he still hasntt repaired it.and he is a millionaire.

Why the embarassing admission from the Pentagon that more than 2 dozen major weapons systems have been stolen by the Chinese? The Washington Post broke the story and the focus was on the manner of the theft — cyber spying. Is this yet another attempt by the US government to create a narrative that pushes control of the internet in the name of cyber security?
