can you make voice recordings?  do you have headphones with a mic?

Since Thor gave Me the headset, I might presume so.  Only had it a couple of months and been reading the board in between spurts of job applications as My "agents" report in to My email.  And tweeting things like links to My work here, bringing traffic.  (The End of Entropy has had about 25,000 reads...)  And z's etsy account, which I got picked up by one of the paper.li sites the day I started the tweeting of it.

I don't think I have been useless.  Thor has a number of the graphics He uses here, and I am working on Deuem, the book.  [Deuem, would truly appreciate an outline.  I'm better holding it all in My mind with something to visualize to add onto.]  I need to get a pic of the cover I am working on, and had hoped to use skype, but as I mentioned, it just sits and cranks for five minutes, ten, maybe 17 was when I finally gave up and closed it down to reduce strain on My humble system one time.

So.  I will be photobucketing

Yeah.  I need to see what, if any recording software is on My computer and put a presentation together that way alone - with graphics but no Me...but I really want to speak before an audience and be taped, from several angles ideally.  It doesn't have to be big, but I want My presence in vid if I can get it.

Yeah, little time for other stuff if I put the presentation together in audio only.  Is that what I should be doing?  Or should I press on doing what I can do in re the above contributions with expectation of things coming together as I see them in My head?

oh i was thinking on your book's website that i was hoping to create for you, that i could have a smattering of recordings of you, such as past radio interviews and what not. even if we have to link to them remotely and you could make a little recording blog, where you can record your latest thoughts on the subject. the longer you can keep a person on your site, listening to things, watching things and clicking links, the better

oh and i want to show you the most frustrating but most effective online sales technique ever.  i mean this thing will just drive you bonkers. what they do is they word the advertisement in such a way that it draws your attention. then they ask you to watch a video "that explains it all" and they say things like "you will be so shocked" and "this is what the government is hiding from people" and "how to stick it to your utility company" and so on and so on.  it's usually voiced by some professional, who draws pictures on a white board while he's talking.

now i'm not say you should do this cause it pisses people off, even if it does manage to sell the products its hyping.  but this is just an example of where, even the simplest presentation, done wisely, can be successful

Wow.  Thank You so much, Beth.  I have a logo already...  [grin]

So, I will see what software I have (or get a freebie failing that) and think of things to say.  [smile]

snip   I'm just sitting around with My thumb up My butt. [ you must be very uncomfortable, I will send you one of my fence pillows lol]

Pffft.  4-6 hours a day applying to jobs, for nearly a decade....  Yeah.  Not trying at all.

Average at 5 hours a day 10 years gives me 18,250 hours of time. Ok, lets say this is true, then what is everyone telling you? 70,000 resumes, What are people telling you? I mean how many jobs are there in your market and how many artists? If there are 75,000 graphic Artists in the USA, then you have 5,001 more resumes to go. At that point the only choice should be you.

These numbers are very hard to understand. Do you have an actual log book of the places you sent to? I would like to spend a month to look at them all.

Deuem

ETA: I wonder what the 70,000 resumes looked like that got those jobs. Is/was there ever a place wher all of the resumes for one job were all posted so you could see them?

Did you ever confirm with the 70K that they indeed got your papers? An if they would tell you why you did not get the job.  How many of these if any are knocks on a door?

Amaterasu

I cannot answer most of Your questions, Deuem.  And I have seen MANY resumes; Mine both fits in and stands out.

Virtually all the places on the web don't offer contact numbers and many say "No calls."  A fair few have the company listed as "confidential."  Some I have tried to contact, but after the first year or so, and getting no real data, I decided that was a waste of time and phone minutes.

I would say I get a very small number of responses in the form of calls.  Maybe several hundred calls, and a very small number of in person interviews (mostly the local jobs I applied to back in Ithaca and other places I lived).

No, I have not kept a long list of these.  I have a folder on My email where I place all the automatic "Thanks, We received Your resume" emails I get.  But I have cleaned it out now and again.

can you find out where the closest credit union is and see how much you will need to open a checking and savings there?   have you found out what the requirements are for pay pal?  need any help with this part?

burntheships

I had posted this several pages ago, although it looks
like instead of quoting Amy, I goofed and edited.

Sorry girl, and here ya go in case it got lost
in the jumble.

Amy,

Here are just a few thoughts;
Pursue anything and everything that others
show an interest in.

You did well on the radio, I listened to you.
You have a nice voice, nice expression, use this
to your advantage in every way. A resume
is a piece of paper in a large stack, its hard
to make an impression. But a voice is
another thing altogether.

Another idea would be to take your idea of
TAP, and start making graphics for it, then
make sure where ever your TAP promotions
are there are visuals.

A picture is worth a thousand words.

One other idea, is there potential for you
to turn TAP into a futuristic game, or
a book? If so, develop your characters
to play into a fictional scenariio, develop
a story line to go with them that can
be worked into a series, perhaps a book
or a video game?

Work on graphics that could go with
either....

Just a few ideas, sorry I dont have more
to offer - one more thing it seems you like
to do online research; have you tried
contacting an agency that does
information brokering, or SEO promotions?

There is one credit union, Navy Federal, and it requires a minimum of $5 to open an account.

If You are moved to create a site for Me, Beth, that would be very much appreciated!

Paypal needs an account number I think, didn't go that far with that.

Thanks, BTS.  Not sure about a game...  Have to think on it.

As for graphics, yeah, I suppose I can.  Really not sure WHAT I would put in - it is so much a framework and not a specific manifestation.

yeah well you would need to do both of those things in order to 1) get your book sales going directly to you instead of amazon.  i have my ebooks in html format.  you don't need to have your book in kindle.  the book can be made into a website with pages, that the person just reads and pages thru. i have software that can add a simple password, if i recall.  so the person can't read it unless they know the password. i'll check on that password thing.
2) without the credit union account, i don't think pay pal would be able to pay you for your book sales.

your math skills on more than one level
70000..at 10 a day that would still take you 19+ years
and i have a hard time believing you could find that many jobs TO apply for on line or otherwise
so sorry
you haven't changed my opinion

On Monster alone, I can find 50-150 suitable jobs per day.  Applying is quick and easy for most.  There have been days I have applied to over 100 jobs.  So...

If I applied for jobs 360 days a year, and only 50 per day, for 10 years...  That's 180,000 jobs.

Just saying.

here's the link to the zip file containing the book software.
http://www.thelivingmoon.com/undomiel/frameset2/sbookbuilder10.zip
i can put your book in it,  if you send me a copy but you will need to set the password, not sure if you can change that after the book is created, however.  worth a shot to see if you can.

i would create it, then send it to you to have you determine what password to give it.
