I think that Russia and China, as allies, may end up dominating the earth for a simple reason.  They may be the last nations in existence by default.

I would elaborate further:  Western society is rapidly changing with little thought given to the truckload of assumptions upon which these nations depend.  Will the new definitions of marriage and family be effective in continuing societies?  Will people bother with the sacrifice of raising children when virtual reality, unlimited porn and video games are available?  Could political correctness undermine military or policing effectiveness?  What happens when religious traditions are widely abandoned?

Worse, it may be that these questions can't even be asked or examined.  The West is charging into a future it cannot predict.

The reality is that there's no such thing as "Western society", at least not to the specific detail most people apply to it, like in your post.

The definition of marriage and family is not under the same threats in all "western countries", and what makes most people think twice about raising children is how their future is going to be, specially regarding stability, monetary and otherwise. Porn, virtual reality and video games take part of people's life but do not dictate any thing, at least not in Portugal.

The same things happens political correctness, some countries are much more affected than others, and religious traditions usually change slowly and adapt to the times. For example, something that many people don't know is that in Portugal (and I suppose in other southern Europe countries) is that a large percentage of people in the Communist party are Christians, people here tend to get the best (according to their points of view) things from their favourite ideologies and are not as extremists about ideologies as in the US, for example, so I don't think important religious traditions are going to be abandoned.

Interesting that Simon has made this announcement following the Germans telling their people to stockpile 10 days of food and water. He believes it's a message to the Americans to ward off a potential false flag attack and that London is also a potential target. The Czechs have the same data re stockpiling though I believe London should be OK - no worries.
The US is desperate for a distraction from their failing policies. Be aware they are indeed trying to make trouble but it is more to do with the Turks changing sides and going over to Russia.
Regarding a personal food store, I would always recommend that you have food and water set aside in case of emergency - of any kind.
What are your views?

The Obama administration is pretty desperate to get some foreign distractions going to try to offset the Presidential Elections proceeding as they figure their Heir Hilary is not going to deliver the business and the bias in the USA is now so great that even with the Presstitutes scamming that Hilary is in the lead Trump will win and throw them all in the slammer. Hence very provocative and ill conceived military moves are in progress in three key theatres, namely, Ukraine, Syria and Korea, moving up limited field forces into engagement positions to try to entice the 'other side' into a defensive move, thus starting yet another hot grass fire war, as if we don't have enough going on in the World already. Now the US tried to get Germany, France, Italy and the EU, let alone Japan and South Korea to be the agents du provocateur in this little game and they had only a mixed response to that. Here in the UK under cool headed PM Teresa May we looked the other way, paid lip service, but we ain't on for it I assure you. So watch out for a self inflicted wound coming from the paid assassins of the USA masquerading as some terrorist or "opposition funded" group giving the excuse to 'defend the West or democracy itself'. Does anyone have a brown paper bag in the house while I throw up; "business as usual." But this is very out of date thinking and very old hat, however there are not many brain cells working in the West Wing right now.

From what I can see all the articles that I have read that do refer to it suggest that they had done so !

From what I could see all articles pointed to the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung newspaper, and that's not an official source.

The PDF I found on the site of the German Ministry of the Interior (see my previous post) appears to say (I don't know German, I had to use Google Translator) that people should be encouraged to have water for 5 days, at two litres per person per day, just after saying how much water the water supply companies should have stored.

Now Hear This. This could all be bragging and bluff but it is looking more serious. The German Army started drafting Doctors in today (30/08/2016). So what justifies that? Lets make some basic analysis. Obama tried to pull some stunts recently, hence the German/Franco/Italian high security meeting afloat. Yes !! Unusual. So lets get basic. You can store dry food, canned food, water, money (that is cash) as ATMs may not work. You can get alternative cooking units, bottled gas (don't store it in the house), candles, batteries and if you get an inverter you can get some mains power from car batteries. If you cut right down on what is running in the house, isolate on the main breaker the house circuits from the grid, then you can plug the inverter output into a socket near your heating boiler and run the pumps as the gas pressure will likely remain good for days. That is if this is in a cold period. Remember the male to male outlet from the inverter will be live when on, so tape it into the wall socket in use otherwise you could touch the ends and shock yourself. Only run when the house is isolated. Disconnect before you go back on the grid by re-connecting the main breaker. A small genny could be a good idea. If possible in a metal shed (Faraday cage) with the exhaust run through a hole to the outside. I have built this all before when things looked tricky. A stitch in time saves nine. In an emergency fill baths, pans etc with water as water pressure could drop away. Get iodine tablets, see web for research. Don't take raw iodine as it is toxic in quantity. That is thyroid protection. Select a windowless room in the middle of the house, or get a digger and cut a neat square hole in the back yard, insert concrete beams one metre down, put in a strong roof and cover back with the dirt you dug out. (Standard Russian design, you can do this in 48 hours). put in a metal ladder and a steel plate hatch and two screened vents for air. Be careful of CO2 build up so may be a fan on a vent. If all this seems OTT then think if you carry an umbrella it won't rain? If you live near a strategic military base, MOVE. That is Navy Subs, missiles, air station or Army depot; all are likely targets as well as coms units. This is all common sense military thinking and was already put in place in Russia over two years ago with Govt. backing. There are still many old bunkers around for sale, buy one. Better yet have a bug out location miles away in the middle of nowhere and tell no one, as if you have good stuff your long time neighbour may want to share it with you if things get tough. The more you do, the more you protect yourself and your country. Don't be a soft target. Put computers,'cell phones etc in closed tin boxes as any EMP will cook them in a second. Earth the box with a wire to ground. Keep everything charged up. Expect high winds, heavy rain and possible seismic activity. THESE simple measures are all good for whatever; an attack, planet X, Solar flare! You name it. I have done all this in the past for a few hundred bucks. Insurance. Buy gold coins as ultimately that is real money, not fiat paper junk. Did you know that China and Russia have bought in 60% of the World's gold metal; don't buy gold certs as they are issued 60:1 leveraged.
Only buy food etc that you can use one day anyway. Only build structures that would be a useful underground garden shed !! This may all seem an over reaction but Russia did this two years ago.

South Korean President Park Geun-hye has ordered the military to be in full combat readiness against emerging threats from North Korea. She said any more provocation from the rival North would lead to the "self-destruction" of the Kim Jong-un regime.
