The American health system is not far from being barbaric.... Live long and prosper!... Not.

How so?  My kids all get into the clinic within a couple hours of calling in for an appointment.  I was having chest pain and went to the ER, I had an EKG done within 15 minutes.(Was normal, woot!)  My co-pay is minimal, $20.

Just fixed my wife ear infection from allergies last night using boiled onion.to much trouble to go to doc even though medicare covers it.

At the hospital they would have shot here up with antibiotics and she may have been exposed to the new superbugs.the old hospital in my town is loaded with staph.bacteria.
Socialized medicine is a joke in texas.ive been to the va with a old friend that i drive.they are used as lab rats.the nice new one in dallas.but hey.they pay all there transportation cost.mileage and food.big scam.comin out of our pockets.why cant the vets be treated at the local hospitals and doctors instead of traveling a hundred miles both ways.
The pension funds are partially invested in insurance companies.gotta keep the old folks in new caddies every few years.
This is a insurance company bailout at the youths expense.when it gets down to the brass tacks.this country is in the toilet and we will not be getting out unless there is a serious population reduction in china and india.how does the usa compete with chinese getting socialized medicine .free shipping for all exports and super cheap labor.and folks working for corporations living in dorm rooms of twenty people with to bathrooms and living off rice and fish.there is no way to keep a decent standard of living under those conditions

The usa cannot compete on the world market for non food production.thats why farming is the new oil in the usa.organic farmers will be the next millionaires but only if we bring in more immigrants.china has dropped their one child policy so they gonna need diapers and food.we have to become one world gov if the americans want to hold a high position in the world.otherwise we will just be another third world country very soon with a few mega farm billionaires.

i want to challenge the statement about the VA

hubby was drafted and then enlisted and was in nam and for  the last few years he does go to the VA for a yearly physical but meds and other stuff all have a price..the price isn't as high as outside the system but there is still a price

now I don't know where you get your info about the VA being for vets and their families..but that is incorrect
it's for Vets and there is a scale for who pays and for what so no it is not free
and there is a critical logjam blocking the processing and a backlog for treatment that they are hoping to have cleared by 2016..
somewhere in the last five years management  has been outsourced and I haven't been able to find the data..
but
if you served this country I think the least they owe you is some health care...
having said that  let me add that the system is broken and not as great as some would believe
the doctors are leaving faster than normal and those working there are not happy folk

if you really want info you can check out these links..but probably no one will

as far as the regular healthcare in this country...it really stinks but the doctors are hamstrung by insurance and big pharma and regs that would choke a horse
so your best bet is to learn about how to stay healthy and work on yourself where you can
and stay out fo the damn system

ok.. another soapbox reply..not sorry ..i needed to say that

Vet family can be eligible for care under several programs.  (And the below link gives only a few programs)

http://www.va.gov/healthbenefits/apply/family_members.asp

I know this because my next door neighbor and good friend is active military and his wife goes to the VA for her medical issue.  This is correct.

He also wouldn't have been seen as forcing people to buy something they didnt want, couldn't really afford.  It would have just been there for them.

I think that is seen as the biggest issue against it... the 'forcing' people and fines if they don't

But they did that to car insurance too :D  We squacked, we hollered we stamped our feet and blew our tops... but in the end.. if you drive , your paying insurance and if you don't they will fine you too :D

At least in Canada when they did auto insurance the government gave you a low cost alternative, not just made the insurance companies rich :D

In texas .the law allows per mile insurance but no company offers it.my insurance is 58$ a month but i cant afford to travel more than three hundred miles a month.just on average drive two days a month.insurance should be tied to fuel.big trucks burn more fuel and do more damage to roads.they are more dangerous.a motorcycle will usually never do any real damage unless its a ninja.and will almost do no damage to a road.anybody who buys fuel and has receipt is covered by state fuel tax insurance.imho thats how i would do it.

Regular insurance is a form of age discrimination.

For all the negative reasons stated in the aforementioned personal stories... And some more.

All the stats indicate very poor performance, and unequal distribution. Infact your no where near the top of world standards.

Your government has killed its own citizens on a number of occasions, and brought all our fears to life.

Mine has to - to an extent, but in the USA?

The USA are being badly screwed over - the rest of the world is watching in horror.

Hitler and Co. were the 1%

Genghis Khan and his horde was the 1%: 'I am the punishment of God...If you had not committed great sins, God would not have sent a punishment like me upon you.', '

The PTB currently really running the show is the 1%

But the 99% will NEVER go in a new direction NOT EVER. When America broke from Britain only 20% mustered... the rest cowered in fear hoping it would all go away

And then We really DIDN'T break from England.  Be that as it may, ? IF 99% were to ignore the 1%.....

Personally i believe if im right then until a better idea comes up .everybody should go with my idea.a for sure path is easier to travel than a path of obstacles and darkness.plus its easier to refine at a later date when a better idea comes along .usually.
If we don't have more than one idea than that's the one we should follow, but if we find another idea we should see which of the two (or a mix of both) is better for everybody or for most people, and then follow that.
I think that adapting our ideas to other people's ideas or ignore our ideas when we see that somebody else's ideas are better is the best way of doing it.

A good leader, including someone like Hitler will take the masses ideas and spin them so they will follow the leader. It is an easy game to figure out. And also easy to break if you are in the right position at the time. I call it re-spinning.....
