UPDATE from the Space Coast of Florida;

Hurricane Matthew's eye of the storm jogged East about 20 miles sparing us here in Melbourne Florida from a direct hit by the eyewall winds.  Speed was at 140+ at the eyewall.  My house was built in 1964 out of concrete block and came through the storm without a scratch.  The only thing I lost was privacy fence and some food in our refrigerators.  I didn't have a generator so when the power went out I was without power for 39 hours.  Florida Power and Light provides power to 304,000 customers in our county of 500,000.  243, 000 lost power.  As of today 10-10, only 5,860 are with out power.  Our power company and their contractors have done a fine job of restoring power working around the clock.  In our county no one was killed or injured.

Our first responders did a fine job of getting everything prepared before it hit and the sight of ordinary people working together gave me some hope about humanity.  The same thought applies to post-storm activity where you see ordinary people helping others.  You always have some though that take advantage.  Our grid was very vulnerable and even some of it runs underground and it was affected.  Beach erosion and storm surge were the worst where we had some roads under water and some roads next to the beaches in counties North of us literally washed out.  It could have been worse.  Matthew went right up the East Coast of the USA and has really caused much damage.  He on the Space Coast we dodged the bullet.

Good to hear you're well.  The weather is grey and boring here. :)

I would have traded with you...I like grey and boring sometimes....preferable to what we just had...lol

I'm glad you're OK.  :)

Here in Portugal, when we have 80 km/h winds we call it a tempest, when the winds reach 120 km/h some people say that it looks like the end of the world. Winds like those in a hurricane are something we cannot even imagine.

Thanks ArMap, been through these crazy things before.  Back in 2004 I went through 4 of them but I had a large generator then.  This one was worse than those 4......

A big relief that you survived Space Maverick !

I was not sure if any members were at the area..

I was aware of the Hurricane...but not sure how bad it was... but someone I follow posted a warning on his website  which I posted on PRC...

I think he had suggested to get away from that area.. but if you did not need to do so...and had a place to hide out... glad things worked out ok..

It must be terrifying if you have been thru 4 or 5 of such incidents each time another approaches..

Hope things calm down and that its not some part of Harrp !

I grew up in Florida and have weathered the storm in homes and also worked the storms when with the sheriffs department and jail.  I must admit the pucker factor is there but if you prepare correctly you will be okay.  That storm was slated to hit us head-on but in the last few hours the eyewall (which was 140+ mph) jogged East about 20 miles and saved a lot of destruction from happening.  Not everyone has power returned yet but they are close.  Our local authorities were on top of this thing.

Federal prosecutors in Baltimore on Thursday said they will charge a former National Security Agency contractor with violating the Espionage Act, alleging that he made off with "an astonishing quantity" of classified digital and other data in what is thought to be the largest theft of classified government material ever.

In a 12-page memo, U.S. Attorney Rod Rosenstein and two other prosecutors laid out a much more far-reaching case against Harold Martin III than was previously outlined. They said he took at least 50 terabytes of data and "six full banker's boxes worth of documents," with many lying open in his home office or kept on his car's back seat and in the trunk. Other material was stored in a shed on his property.

One terabyte is the equivalent of 500 hours worth of movies.

The prosecutors said Martin had an "arsenal" of weapons in his home and car, including an assault-rifle-style tactical weapon and a pistol-grip shotgun with a flash suppressor.

Martin, who will appear Friday at a detention hearing in U.S. District Court in Baltimore, also took personal information about government employees as well dozens of computers, thumb drives and other digital storage devices over two decades, the government alleged.

In a complaint unsealed earlier this month, the government charged him with felony theft of government property and the unauthorized removal and retention of classified materials, a misdemeanor. Conviction under the Espionage Act could send Martin to prison for up to 10 years on each count and is considered the most serious of the three charges.

Prosecutors will argue Friday that Martin, 51, of Glen Burnie, Md., presents "a high risk of flight, a risk to the nation and to the physical safety of others," and that he should not be released from jail.

"The case against the defendant thus far is overwhelming, and the investigation is ongoing," Rosenstein said. "The defendant knows, and, if no longer detained, may have access to, a substantial amount of highly classified information, which he has flagrantly mishandled and could easily disseminate to others."

Continued detention without bail is necessary, prosecutors said, because of "the grave and severe danger that pretrial release of the defendant would pose to the national security of the United States."

Martin's attorneys are expected to file their own memo before Friday's hearing.

The government alleged that he took a top-secret document detailing "specific operational plans against a known enemy of the United States." Prosecutors did not name the enemy. The document, prosecutors said, contained a warning, in capital letters, that said: "This conop (concept of operations) contains information concerning extremely sensitive U.S. planning and operations that will be discussed and disseminated only on an absolute need to know basis. Extreme opsec (operational security) precautions must be taken."

Martin was not involved in the operation, the government said, and had no need to have the document or know its specifics.

Another document found in his car contained handwritten notes describing NSA's classified computer systems and detailed descriptions of classified technical operations, the prosecutors said. The notes also included descriptions of basic concepts associated with classified operations, as though intended for a general public audience, they said.

In an interview before his arrest, Martin initially lied to investigators, prosecutors said, denying having taken classified material. Only when confronted with specific documents did he admit that he took what he knew to be classified files and that "such actions were unauthorized and wrong," they said.

Martin had access to classified data beginning in 1996, when he was with the Navy Reserve, and that access continued through his employment with seven private government contractors.

The government alleged that Martin, "as a trusted insider," was able to defeat "myriad, expensive controls placed" on classified information. He was trained how to properly handle and store such data, but violated his oath and duty to do so, prosecutors said.

They said the devices seized show he made extensive use of sophisticated encryption and anonymization technologies. He also used a sophisticated software tool that runs without being installed on a computer and provides anonymous Internet access, "leaving no digital footprint on the machine," they said.

In August, a cache of highly sensitive NSA hacking tools mysteriously appeared online. Although investigators have not found conclusive evidence that he was responsible for that, he is the prime suspect, said U.S. officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the investigation is ongoing.

That is the event that set off the search that turned up Martin, the officials said.

In July, according to the prosecutors' memo, he watched a video about how law enforcement authorities catch computer users who wish to remain anonymous on the Internet. "He has a demonstrated ability to conceal his online communications and his access to the Internet," the prosecutors said.

To support their argument that Martin poses a danger to the community, they noted that in late July, he went to Connecticut to buy a "Detective Special" police-package Chevrolet Caprice. While searching his house, the FBI also recovered 10 firearms, only two of which were registered, the government said.

Prosecutors said a loaded handgun was found in a case on the floorboard of the Caprice, in violation of Maryland law.

Martin's wife, Deborah Vinson, was "very upset" to learn about her husband's arsenal, prosecutors said, "as she had only been aware" of him having "one or two" firearms.

If Martin had taken the classified material "for his own edification, as he has claimed, there would be no reason to keep some of it in his car, and arm himself as though he were trafficking in dangerous contraband" prosecutors said.

No you wouldn't :P

Glad your okay... having a stone house when the Wolf huffs and puffs and tries to blow the house down is a GOOD thing...   my house is also block..

Living in Huricane land a small generator for freezers is a good investment. I got one a few years back when it seemed every little wind storm knocked out an old transformer or powerline...

I take it with me to events just in case we get bad weather and cannot light the fire pit :D

Okay so....  all those files leaked out   MUCH bigger than the Snowden Snafu...

So... my question is..

WHERE are all the Alien Files? :P

How is it that the ONE item (UFO/ALIENS) never gets such a massive leak?

Hmmm?

Well?

But Z... This is the only secret that really matters in my oppinion, its like the pandora's box. Think about how many other secrets it holds. Once you open it you can never come back.

You should expect it would be the most protected info on the planet. Not so easy to leak. You probably can't even find the smoking gun documents in government archives anymore.

And why leak something that in theory gives so much power to the owner? I mean the ones that do have the will to leak, probably only know the tip of the iceberg and do not benefit the real power that this information provide.

But that is the point... it is a PLANET WIDE scale of info coverup...

And I just have problems with the ENTIRE Zgovernment system of the Planet being together on this ONE coverup...

It makes no sense... Spock is turning over in his grave at the illogicness of that.

What power? If they told us  we would simply say "See? We told you so!" and then have nothing more to research :P

Since these UFO reports are worldwide, if they are aliens then the entire world's government would already be 'in the know' at spome level... so where is the power gain?

Okay so maybe if Russia admits they have a deal with Aliens and then Obama says "Our Alien friends are better than YOUR Alien friends" then maybe :P

Do you see what I am getting at? Humans are just not that good at keeping secrets long term... certainly not on a Global scale

How can it be PLANET WIDE if there is countries that have disclosed alien and UFO documents?

1.   Argentina
2.   Australia
3.   Brazil
4.   Canada
5.   Chile
6.   China
7.   Denmark
8.   Finland

16. Peru
17. Russia
18. Spain
19. Sweden
20. Ukraine (not in English)
21. United Nations
22. United Kingdom
23. Uruguay
24. Vatican City

And those documents are just a glimpse of the total documents. I can tell you there is videotapes of spacecrafts flying over Colares in the state of Para in Brazil that are still supressed. So there is disclosure but not of all information.

But hey, if the disclosure is not from USA it does not count right? There is plenty of official disclosure already but it seems the only "planet" you take into account is Planet North America. :P ::)

Why a doctor makes more money than a waiter? What the doctor have the waiter dont?

The only true power is knowledge, as everything (including any achievement) is derived from it. So the real question is what they are achieving withholding this especific knowledge? Can't you really think of anything? Cant it improve reputation, influence and techs thus power?

Really Z? No power comes with information? What about the operation paperclip? No power came with that too? ::)
